I will grudgingly accept him as cover.

I saw him ping a ball today, first time I have seen him strum a long ball that wasn't just a hopeful clearance or a long aimless forward pass. That impressed me most about his performance today.

Never really minded him

Then that defending v villa I think against Barkley changed everything.

Chambers > Holding in terms of cover options plus Chambers is versatile

We have too many centre backs so better to cash in on Holding for some of that English tax

Agree, even Mustafi was better than Holding. Holding’s mistakes just seem to go more under the radar, maybe cos they’re slightly less obvious but in all honesty he’s shit.

Absolute insanity to make him captain with Xhaka on the pitch. Neither him or Mari are good enough.

Look at the space they let the attackers run into!

To me when you go into an important, season-changing semi of a European cup with Holding and Chambers in your defence there is something seriously wrong.

This contract extension is up there with giving Wilshere and Jenkinson those long term contracts back in the day.

We are actually pushing out talented, athletic centre backs like Saliba and Mavropanos, for an average joe who turns like a bus. Holding is a Crystal Palace level defender at best.

I don't know how arteta doesn't see how Gabriel is our best defender, it's not even close in my opinion he's literally head and shoulders above Holding and Mari, I'd also rather Gabriel play alongside saliba next season as they are both quick and mobile, sick of seeing defenders playing for us who look like they are running through treacle. No doubt someone will say that they kept a clean sheet tonight but let's not forget that Villarreal probably should have stuck 4 past us in the first leg but for a good Leno save and poor finishing and could quite easily have scored tonight with the chances they had.

Rob has aged over the summer. Recently married or something? Lol. That hair is running away.
