This is the crux of the problem with Arteta ball. We are scoring only about 2/3rds of the goals we normally score in a league season. Yet the defense hasn't improved by the amount needed to make the attacking trade-off worthwhile. Our GD was 20+ in the Mustafi era, it's +5 now.

Holding and Luiz are not players that will have a lot of clean sheets.

We have scored 69 percent of the goals we have scored since 97/98

^^ As I have said elsewhere on the forum, we have scored around 70-75 goals in an average season prior to 19/20.

The goal haul under Arteta is well outside the range of what our squad is capable of producing.

19/20 - 56 G
18/19 - 73
17/18 - 74
16/17 - 77
15/16 - 65 (thanks Giroud)
14/15 - 71
13/14 - 68
12/13 - 72

To think we not only gave him a new contract but he’s playing for us over more talented defenders like Saliba and Mavropanos

Really poor game from Holding. But as expected. he hasn’t played in over a month and his first game back is Liverpool.

Don’t rate the guy, as always someone else said why are we giving this guy a new contract when we have Saliba and Mavropanos looking really good.

I’d hope those two will come back and get a chance but Arteta really doesn’t have a clue, so I’m not counting on it. We’ve wasted half of Saliabs contract loaning him out as well!

Lost his man far too often. Not good enough.

I think that's the 3rd or 4th time he's lost his man in the box and we've been punished. Sterling out jumped him last time.

Why are we even debating this guy - he is sh*t.
The fact that he even pulls on an Arsenal shirt and gets to play is indication enough of the dire position we are in squad wise.

Exactly it’s happened far too many times this season, the weakest centre back we have out of our many options in my opinion I’d sell him to cash in on that English value while we still can

I'm new on here but I'm glad to see that not everyone likes Holding in terms of the quality of player need to challenge for - well, top 6 now. He has some good games/spells but he's just not good enough.

In honesty Holding should never be an Arsenal player, but such is the level we have fallen to he is being discussed.

Pretty much agree, there’s also a level of acceptance by the fans, praising him and wanting to get him signed up for him to stay longer.

He’s done ok, but we can and should do better, we’ve signed him up again until 2024 though (with an option for an extra year) so it doesn’t look like he’s going anywhere soon, unless we get a new manger who knows what he’s doing.
