We might all disagree on Clichy, Monreal and Tierney, one thing is for sure that Ashley Cole was the best of the lot world class and the best in his position for years and none of those three come close. Not giving him the contract he deserved was a stupid decision on the clubs part because he would have been our LB for years and most likely captain at some point.

Doubt it, he's shown himself to be a prick over the years, even if we did give him that contract, he would have still left 2-3 years down the line. That's just the type of guy he was

Clichy was a disaster. One of those 'defenders' that couldn't actually defend. Positioning all over the place, relied on pace to try and rescue his lack of defensive skill. Dived into tackles too much.

Tierney is MUCH better... but I would like to see him improve A LOT on his weaker side. If he does he could be as good or better than Monreal.

Cole > Donreal > Tierney > Clichy > Gibbs

All there is to it.

I thought clichy not always got the appreciation he deserved. Better than tierney tbh, who barely proved anything so far other than having a precious cross

Tierney to be left out in the cold by Arteta for sticking up for his team mate ala guendouzi?

One of the bright spots today - his aggressive and direct running was excellent and defensively sound.

No doubt Arteta will punish him for sticking up for a team mate... only Mikels favourites get away with that kind of behaviour

He was also poor tonight. Not sure what's happened but the overlapping runs aren't that frequent, was beaten too easily for that first goal and seems to have picked up this sideways and backwards passing habit.

Yeah.
Poor tonight.
Couldn't handle the pace against him.

Tierney was very good and solid today, he did a lot more than anyone else, thats for sure!.

He has put in some absoutley wonderful pin-point balls this season, but they keep missing it all the time. He would have so many assists already if they could just hit the simple target

Probably our best player that said totally ineffective - the game plan was to get the ball wide so Tierney and Saka could get in plenty of crosses ... the problem was that was Spurs plan as well, give Arsenal space out wide to throw in endless crosses Dier/Alder >>>>>>> Laca/Auba all day long ... and when Arsenal over-commit, which we did time after time, look to catch us on the counter.

To give him due credit Tierney is a far better defender than Bellerin and kept Bergwijn under control for most of the game, shame that Bellerin couldn't do the same with Son.

Son is different level. He’s at his peak right now. Highly underrated in my opinion.
