Just seen that Dejan's TV post back on page 4, I never did see that convo till now, I have tears in my eyes right now.

That TV didn't even have a fkin brand name on it and it also had what looked like a plug socket on the back of the TV ffs!!

What was he going to do, plug his fkin toaster into the back of his TV lol!

Özil has never been the engine room of any football team. He’s no Patrick Vieira who can single-handedly take a game by the scruff of the neck. He is the luxury , stick him in the right environment, in the right position, with the right players around him, and there very few if any better No 10s in the world

Since joining Arsenal he has created more chances (401), more big chances (51) and provided more assists (42) than any other Premier League player and its basically the same story this season. Before the Chelsea game he'd created 15 clear cut scoring opportunites this season, again the highest by anone this season.

Finding a way to reinforce the midfield is key to extracting better performances from Ozil and we will reap the rewards, not to hit his confidence by criticising him all the time. People need to get off his back and actually value what he CAN bring to the team.

What the hell is going on here then...someone actually talking sense about Ozil and showing a deep understanding of the game...I must be on the wrong forum!
Agree with your comments 100% and believe if we had acquisitioned a genuine defensive midfielder not only would Ozil's game have flourished but ALL the others midfielders too not to mention our defenders.

Some quality posts you don't want to miss

After City defeat:

Mess wrote:If someone has a rational explanation for Lacazette to be dropped today, please come forward. He didn't play in the Europa League, he was fresh, Arsenal paid a lot for him and he's clinical. Let me guess: He wanted the pressing of Iwobi??

What a stupid manager....absolutely disgusting. You don't see that type of crazy stupid decisions at top clubs anywhere else. He's your top striker? Your best paid striker? One that scored 37 goals last year? He's rested? YOU START HIM!!!!

Yes 'even Szczesny' would've kept it out because he's a better keeper than both of the previously mentioned keepers, by far.

Shame he didn't show it during the 4 years he was our no.1.

He had his chance.

Cech wouldn't be here if Szczesny were convincing for us.

He was young and immature, look at him now

He is the same age as De Gea, who has been one of the best keepers in the world for 4 years now.

How was Wenger supposed to know Szczesny would finally get his shit together?

As I said he was our no.1 for 4 years, you can't blame Wenger for getting rid of him and then say "yh but look at him now".

Again, he should've showed some of that while he was with us and Cech wouldn't be here.

I think in general, the coaches in Italy are much more tactical, that’s just how the league works,” says Szczęsny. “Whether it was [Luciano] Spalletti at Roma or Max Allegri here, the preparation for the game is different to what I was used to in England. You work on the shape of the team for a particular match all week.

At Arsenal you’d just prepare physically for it but here you watch film analysing a specific opponent before the game and afterwards we’ll watch again to see what worked and what didn’t.

“I enjoyed working with some great coaches at Arsenal, Roma and here, but the goalkeeping school in Italy is very different, it’s very technical and pays more attention to the details. It’s really made a difference for me because I started playing at a very young age with Arsenal and as you play you gain experience and that’s how you grow. But, honestly, I couldn’t say from a technical standpoint that I improved in any way from when I became first-choice at Arsenal until the day I left for Roma.

“However, in the two-and-a-half years since I came to Italy, I’ve improved massively which is thanks to the coaches and the way they work. It’s not about improving when you play, it’s every day in training you have to work on every aspect of your game and that’s something I’ve really enjoyed.”

Basically scez didn't improve because Wenger is a bit shit, so many of our talents haven't really progressed.

Shocking stuff that, just says we only prepare for matches physically, we don't even bother doing diligence on the opposition.

Our best player has left for a bigger club, and that bigger club has given us one of their flops in return. Not only is Mkhitaryan not as talented as Alexis, but he's also not a direct replacement by any means. It's definitely a bad deal for us.

"But we're signing Aubameyang", some will say, "he can replace Alexis!" Are we signing him, though? Haven't we seen numerous transfer sagas like this amount to nothing? There's no guarantee we'll get Aubameyang. None whatsoever. Let's not act as if the deal has been done.

Have we learnt nothing? How are we falling for it again?

1991 wrote:Wenger benefitted from how much money dictates success in modern football as much as he derided it. Football was very different before the PL era, you could be promoted one year and wint the title the next, the facts on his achievements at Arsenal are this;

When he took over Arsenal were 2nd most successful English club, we're now 3rd
When he took over it was 5 years since we won the league, it's now 14
When he took over it was 2 years since we won a cup in Europe, it's now 24

It's all well and good remembering how he changed us from boring boring Arsenal and that, but look what came with it; The death of a traditional English club and it's rebirth into a profits-over-sporting achievement franchise. From the generic plastic badge to the poxy stadium named after an Arab country to the cringey statues to the god awful gentrified fanbase to the leeching American owner to the death of the spirit of the club, all over seen by Wenger. Arsenal FC really no longer exists. Only the name is the same but nothing else about the club is. It's difficult for fans like me to even like our club anymore, the epitome of everything wrong with modern football. For that I will not look on the Wenger years fondly.
