loool he is not even a PL standard player. No one would spend even 5 million on him. Guy is absolutely trash. Also its not like we can play harball and say we gonna keep him as he is utter trash and wont play another min for us

Considering West Ham fans rated him highly under Big Sam im sure he's more than good enough for Palace under the same manager but anyway when you look at transfer fees like 5M McNair, Wickham 9M and Ibe 15M then about 10M would be a fair valuation for Jenkinson if you consider his age, experience and nationality.

he did well in his first season and second season he was awful.......for me what is important is we get rid and not play hardball with players who are not good enough. I remember when we used to turn down offers for bendtner and in the end he left on free. What did we gain exactly?

You are misunderstanding me again, didn't say we should turn down any offers for him just that we should be aiming to get at least 10M if possible.

Comprende?

He's leaving on loan according to skysports

f**k me Wenger is awful at selling players Big Sam obviously rates Jenkinson so make him pay for a permanent transfer fee or no deal, even if its like 4-5M.

It's fair to say he's got no future here and his contract ends in 2018, no point in loaning him when he'll probably walk free in 2018.

even our trash it takes years to get rid. this is why I am so against signing any english players. not only are 99% of them poor. but they never leave early. they all stay years longer than they should.

So apparently the two clubs have agreed the deal already but Jenkinson and his agent are stLling because they can't seem to agree a deal.

This is the problem with our overpaid british core no doubt we'll have the same problem if we choose to offload the likes of chambers, Wilshere, Oxlade or Walcott in the near future.

Any news on the fee? Hull just got a bid of 10m for Jake Livermore, Afobe went for 10m, Bamford went for 5m...surely we must get 10m for this guy at least ffs...?

Jenkinson's agreed fee with palace is 7.5m .... he's on 42k a week with us, Palace offered him the same on a 4 year contract ,... he refused asking for 60k a week ... so for now the deal is off

Watford and WBA also willing to pay 7.5m ... but I doubt they want to pay him 3m a year ....

Carl is a good athlete and wears his heart on his sleeve by default, but let's be honest, for someone who has trained with Arsenal and West-Ham for over half a decade, he's a very limited footballer and an average defender. £7.5m would be a decent deal providing we bring in an adequate replacement.

guy should still be in the championship. only reason why he has a half noteworthy career is because of typical wenger showing off trying to pluck nobodies from obscurity.
It has very rarely worked out for a long time now.
7.5mill for this charlton tier player is incredible business.

I was about to call bs, then I wiki'ed him. Wow, it really has been that long.

£7.5 million would be excellent business for Jenkinson. Sucks that it didn't work out since he's a huge Gooner, but professional sports can be a ruthless industry. Nothing personal to him.

Actually he was playing in league one and yeah you're right that he'd probably still be there now or worse off considering he wasn't even first choice for Charlton.

Two days before deadline day and he looks set to stay because he can't agree personal terms, it's not a smart decision to stay on his part considering he's 5th choice RB behind Bellerin, Debuchy, Gabriel and Niles which basically guarentees him no minutes, by the time he leaves us for free in 2018 he might find it hard to attract any BPL sides and up having to drop a level.

At least by signing for Palace he can get games and even if they go down assuming he impresses he can push for a move at the end of the season.

Yeah thats why Gerrard stayed on Liverpool over the years, or Vardy refused Arsenal despite getting shitton of money here, right?
