With the PL showing a LOT more games on TV next season it was always likely that they would load the first few weeks with big games.

Partey?

We were under no legal obligation to suspend him. It was not like the Greenwood case, with the audio footage and the fact that he had been formally charged.

In a "normal" job, an employer would not necessarily suspend somebody for this, on allegations or investigations alone.

It would be extremely remiss to not have had legal advice here.

Did the club do anything wrong? It's hard to say.

Cases like this get emotive since many rape cases aren't solved, due to a lack of evidence or just rank misogyny.

Then again, he could be innocent. Some rape cases are just women looking to implicate out of spite.

I can fully get why shit like this is highly emotive. The level of rape convictions is too low, and there is a definite culture of misgoyny causing this. Though to be fair, rape is hard to prove in courts beyond a reasonable doubt. Especially if the event happened in 2021. Without being graphic, is there any hair or semen from Partey from back then?

If we acted badly as a club, then it has to be whether we were right to keep playing him as the allegations and investigation surfaced.
