Missed by me for being an academy player who I saw grow into a quality full back.

It's a step up from paying them to leave I suppose.

That's what crap players are worth, seriously

In the Premier League even if you can just walk in a straight line you're worth £10,000

So you don’t think after his decent season in Spain he should be worth that? Even if he’s crap by our expectations now, he’s easily worth 5-10m.

I don’t think the guy is not any good, he did well at Betis, once upon a time fans rated him as well.

It hasn’t worked out for him, whether it be because of injuries or because of managers who knows but he’s not a bad player.

We should be getting 10-15 million for him IMO, we’ve established a pattern at this club where our players have to be given away or sold for next to nothing (or in some cases we have to pay to move them on), this needs to stop.

It’s down to the way we handle players though, it’s cost us a lot of money, yes we’re spending at the moment but there’s only so much you can spend without recouping much before it starts catching up with you.

We need to be smarter and not be so ruthless in making it clear we don’t want players.

He won Betis a trophy and they want him back, usually that's worth a few million.

This.

Was a very exciting prospect before the injury and loss of pace, but we were still all talking about "potential" when then were clear gaps in his defensive play. He would get turned so easily in his last season with us, and without his pace he just didn't have much.

Likeabke chap, but it's time to go.

We've managed this situation awfully.

Why was no buy obligation put in the loan deal considering the length of contract he has left.

Bellerin only wants Betis. We're going to end up ripping up his contract to save money on wages.

After we paid 75% of his wages last year and now we will lose him for nothing. We literally could have ripped up his deal last year and saved more money.

I'd say let's hope we've learned our lesson about giving average players stupid money but we've just given Eddie £100k a week and Holding £80k pw.

There's definitely a lot lacking when it comes to the planning of what to do with these players on older contracts, and it's happening too often.

However, I think Edu/the board/whoever appreciate that this is part of a cull, and that it needs to be done to really feel as though a new project is starting.

I don't like that we're letting players go for free, that Edu's showing his hand regarding these situations, or that our squad is clearly so bloated that teams will be trying left, right and centre to take their pick from our fringe players and try their luck on a free transfer. But, far more importantly, it does seem as though we're not letting this interfere with the rebuilding of our squad. Instead of saying "we need to sell before we can buy", we're just buying! (aside from the CM dilemma it seems).

Honestly, it's poor business, but as long as we're improving on the pitch - and we certainly are - I simply don't give a shit.

Cancel the contract, get him out.
