Great business and it's good to see us continuing to stay on top of player contracts wherever possible. I think Hector recognises the chances he's been given here and knows that he is wanted so hopefully he'll be our right-back for years to come. If he can improve on his defensive ability (as most young full-backs need to) he'll be world class one day.

Contracts don't mean anything these days, but if Bellerin is wise and if Arteta is our true mentor, Bellerin may pretty much realize that players who've left Arsenal haven't always succeeded or been integral to their teams.

Henry lefts us after his prime years. van Persie won a PL title, but pretty much negated his legendary status here. Cesc was considered one of the top-5 CMs in the world when he was here - only to leave and be dumped by Barca. He won the Prem with Chelsea, but he's not considered a midfield great as he once was.

On the other hand, Rosicky is here. It'll be 10 years. Injuries curtailed his career, but he will go down in Arsenal folklore even if his contribution wasn't as impressive as those of van Persie and Cesc Fabregas.

To be fair, when most players leave they don't care about being a legend on a club they abandon. It's off to bigger (paycheck) and better (trophies) things.

Yeah, I agree. Just in the case of Cesc more so than van Persie, I didn't think it was sensible for him to leave at that stage. He was 23/24. Still could have waited 2 more seasons before leaving. Nasri would have stayed if Cesc did and so would van Persie a season later.

van Persie was 29 and it was now or never as far as the League goes. I can understand that.

Pay-checks are important. We offered van Persie 150k a week for 4 years. United came in with 250k a week and he accepted that. It made him rich, but if he had stayed - he'd have had a home to come back to after retirement. We sold Pires after his prime years and today, when he comes to Arsenal, it's home for him. I think once you're retired, it's important to have a moral support system that your clubs can provide and big clubs like us do.

When Scholes comes to ManU, he's coming home. That's important for me I guess, but I won't disagree with anybody who thinks otherwise.

I like him.

Also like his name.

Hector puts fear in opposition's heart.

Unlike Kieran who you would ask to go on a date with.

I want more Hectors and Igors on this team.
