I thought Dortmund got it bang on tonight.
They tore into us from the start and never let us play the possession game until they went 2 up and then played on the break.
Every team will miss chances, even we did tonight.
How much of it was them not allowing us to play as opposed to us playing badly ?
Probably a mixture of both, but still thought they were great.

Bellerin looked lost in the 1st half especially.
Reminds me of a deer caught in the headlights.
However he will have a lot easier matches than this to learn his trade.
Still not going to write the guy off after one competitive match for us.

That still makes me laugh, he should never be faced with the situation he was given tonight. Welcome to Arsenal, here play against Dortmund at their ground.

I like to see youth given a chance.
Either way, Bellerin was not at fault for us losing tonight.

He may have looked lost but there are easily several experienced CL players that looked a lot worse. Bellerin had a decent debut.

Looked a little 'Deer in Headlights' at times but was always likely to be a little bit

Didn't play well but also wasn't helped much either

Still don't think we should of loaned out Jenks, would of preferred him in this situation

The lad did alright bad positoning once or twice in the first half didn't look good but won a lot of good solid headers high up the pitch.

I was looking out for Metz and Kos and they didnt seem to communicate with him an awful lot which I taught was poor maybe they did when I couldnt see.

Raised my eyebrows before the game and even more than after it. Better talent, possibly but currently a better defender? Just no.

Not an awful long time ago he got humiliated by Liverpool's academy player Jordon Ibe to give you an idea of his defensive side of the game.

I'd rather a defender who can defend, who doesn't add much football-wise than a good footballing defender who can't actually defend.

He's still young of course, it's way too early to write him off but the same applies to Jenkinson who I believe could become at least a good, reliable and realistic squad player. Need to wait and see more of Bellerín at top flight football to form properly substantiated expectations.

hector was no worse than mertesacker.

Koscielny was our worst defender yesterday and had bellerin performed like koscielny did people would be saying all sorts.

It was a tough game for him but he certainly didnt embarrass himself and jenkinson would have been no better.

Bellerin got his wig pushed back on that side last night.

I actually feel sorry for him, getting thrown straight into a game of that magnitude.

2000/2001
Spartak Moscow 4 arsenal 1
Lee dixons 50 th European game
Dear god give bellerin a break
It's wenger who put him on the pitch and under his stewardship
17 years of European experience and we are still susceptible to nights like last night
Just like we were with seaman Dixon winterburn bould and Adams
Now where do you reckon the fault lies?
Ps
I made a mistake
I cast aspersions on lee Dixon claiming he played in the above game
It was actually luzhny
However his 49 th European game was a 3-0 defeat at shakter Donetsk
So in another way it strengthens the above point
