RIP British Core. A failed experiment that cost us ten good years.

Yeah :rofll: the ozil experiment is a full success, best player in the league after De Bruyne,Salah,Kane, etc :rofll:

Wenger was right 20 years ago when he steered clear of Englishmen. He foolishly gave into the pressure.

To many of the good foreign players were leaving, he though building it around a British core would be better in terms of loyalty and setting a high standard in the dressing room, like United and Chelsea had to a degree in the 2000's.

Wenger was railroaded by the fans and the media into it. Because Chelsea had terry and lampard and United had their British players and were wining the league. The argument was you can’t win the league without a core of British players. Absolute nonsense.

It was the same with the physical approach. When we were winning we were regularly near the bottom of the ‘fair play’ league. Then he replaced Vieira with Fabregas and continued to fill the squad with lightweight ‘technical’ players.

Different reason. The Vieira to Fabregas change was because he thought he needed the technical plates to conquer Europe. Not that Vieira wasn't technical.

Gibbs, Ox, Walcott, Wilshere and Ramsey...Lookeeeeeeeeeee, it was pretty obvious from the get go that Arsenal wasn't going anywhere with that core.

Gibbs was quality better the kola defensively and Chamberlain is like prime CR7/Alves in comparison to Iwobi/Bellerin we shouldn't have sold either of them.

Gibbs was a subpar player that Arsenal didn't let go soon enough. Poor at tackling, not physical, poor crossing and passing, all he had was "some speed". And he was injury prone also.

It wasn't difficult to predict that the British core project wouldn't end too well.

I'm glad to see the back of them, that era was the most miserable and mediocre in my lifetime. I hope Wilshere is gone in the summer.
