What happened to the British core?

Postby Arsene Nose » Sun Nov 22, 2015 1:34 pm

A few seasons ago we had six British players sign long term deals - Wilshere, Walcott chamberlain, Gibbs, Ramsey and Jenkinson. We later added Welbeck to that list. This was supposed to be the future of arsenal. The local core that we'd build around. Fast forward two seasons and one is on loan and the other six can't seem to stay fit for any length of time.
Should we start selling them and look to bring in the foreigners that served us well during the glory years?

Injury prone or shit.

Some are both.

Jenkinson has done well at West Ham. Bring him back to compete with Bellerin. Ramsey has to be moved in to the middle with Cazorla more or less finished as a top level footballer. Theo injury prone but vital when fit. Ox and Jack, injury prone and shit when they play. They can go. Give both to Everton plus money for Barkley. Far better player than either. I like Gibbs. Keep him.

I think Wilshere and Ramsey are class but the others are not the level where they can push a club to the top of the league. Theo at best is an impact player. Personally, I'd stay away from buying English players. Over priced and below par. We should skirt the home grown rule by buying as many young foreigners as we can at the youth level and promoting them through the academy.

Have to have X amount of home-grown players in the squad. All other considerations are null and void.

Fabregas is a homegrown player. So too is Coquelin. They don't have to be English.

wilshere- massive talent but when he is fit which is rarely wenger doesn't want to play him central which is his best position he is not a winger
Ramsey - top CM again wenger wasting him out wide in favour of cazorla because in wengers head he still thinks cazorla is some type of xavi/iniesta type when he isn't
jenkinson - loaned out and wenger wasted 12m on a rb who is arguably no better than jenkinson
Gibbs - 26 hasn't improved since early promise about 4 years ago needs to move on and be replaced
Walcott - top player cant stay fit
ox - another young player who is heading towards destruction thanks to arsenals medical staff or wengers training methods

In an ideal world we would move most of them on, but we have a home-grown quota to fill. So here they are. We should have cashed in with Wilshere a few years back. When you look at what Liverpool got for Sterling, we could have had some of that.

Jenkinson looking rubbish against Spurs. Would not push Bellerin at all.

Injury prone. Not sure what they're eating or doing to their bodies because most of our other players don't get injured as much as they do

Mesut likes this.

Only one I actually rate is Jack but he's finished already.
