If we continue with 3 at the back, selling Kola isn't an issue.

If we revert to 4 atb, Kola is the only other dedicated LB we have.

I don't care. I'd be fine with Saka as a LB. But with Auba in front of him, he won't get that protection unless we sign Partey who can fill that void when Saka is driving forward. Xhaka won't be able to do that.

Kola isn't a great defender either way, so a £10m fee for him is worth it.

Should be playing on the front foot and less worried about protection anyway, should be more about how the FB/WB can help Auba attack. When were the weaker team we will have 5atb ad AMN/Saka would be fine again.

I think the aim is to play 4atb once the defense is sorted out, otherwise attack will suffer in the long run. So a mediocre defender ( LB) is better option than a makeshift player like Saka or AMN. That's the reason Kola came in yesterday when Tierney became unavailable.
If Kola leaves, eventually we will need to buy another genuine LB, Tierney being injury prone.

He came in yesterday because he was asked for LCB, a role which he has done before. AMN and Saka would not make sense at LCB but AMN has done well for a few games at LWB and provides ample cover there, Saka had a good stint at LB and can provide ample cover there.

Eventually yes we should sign an actual LB (and sell AMN) but Kola is just not an option whether he's here or sold, he's shit. I think for this season we sell him and make do with the above players.
