Still the best mobile tackler we have. We should get rid of him, but then we need to buy a technically better ball winning midfielder

if we keep this formation then its a type of player we dont need. although id only think of getting rid as long as we buy someone else who is nimble. for all his flaws coq is mobile and has quick feet, as long as his midfield partner is never more than 5 yards away from him

The need of a player like this is less with 3 in the back, still there are games we will need him.

Imo, Elneny+Xhaka pretty much is better than having Coquelin in for his tackling. Both share the workload well.

Btw, anyone notice Ramsey being a complete moron with the victory champagne, and Elneny putting his head down to avoid it going into his mouth. Lol, you have like one Muslim teammate who's actually pretty religious, and you spray him with that :D

The guy probably has no idea that Muslims aren't allowed to drink. He comes across as those dumb Americans from deep south.

So did all Muslims come from Michigan?

we realistically need 5 players for those 2 midfield spots, that's with Cazorla who is never fit and not including youngsters.

Xhaka, Elneny, Coq are all in the physical no nonsense mould and Ramsey, Cazorla and Wilshere in the flair player mould, like almost number 10s, advanced player maker from midfield.

Seri would be a direct replacement for Elneny with that sort of box to box style, power and pace (I think).

I think if Seri comes we would lose 2 of our CMs, so Wilshere would have to go and Cazorla is done anyway.

Ramsey a flair player crikey I must have been watching a completely different player than you have. Can't pass the ball no pace can't beat anyone slow as a snail and can't execute a back heel.So he has no flair whatsoever

The problem is Wenger has players that don't excel in the CM role at anything in particular (Cazorla aside) and so you end up having to play 3 players to do the job of 2 or 2 players to do the job of 1.

We have still not replaced Gilberto, in my opinion, I don't like dedicated DMs/holding midfielders, would prefer 2 proper CMs that can defend and go forward, one sits the other goes, to this day I am baffled as to why people say it doesn't work. It does work, you just need the 2 players to communicate. Anyone that has played centre mid knows you have to talk to your CM partner.

I am baff'd as to how Wenger will employ 3 at the back when Ozil and Sanchez come back into the team, because he has played 3 at the back and 2 wing backs, he wants 2 holding midfielders, thats 8 players inc keeper. With 3 spots left, Ozil seemingly roaming behind the strikers, only 2 can play - so we can't have a front line of 3 strikers.

That shouldn't be too much of a problem because width should be provided by the wingbacks so to have Lacazette + 1 up top is cool, but I am, curious to know if Wenger tries to play 3 strikers as he has in the past or is that now consigned to the bin.

Missed that. Complete dick move on his part. It's not hard to remember something like that ffs, they're with each other more than they're with their families for the most part in a year.

Would be typical Wenger if he converted a good solid midfielder who doesn't take a lot of risks and is always in position into a CB -_-

No.

Just no.

The crowd was moaning at some of his passes because he had obvious passes going forward and he broke our attack by sending the ball all the way back.

He was playing scared and LCFC were smelling blood.

To be a bit fair to him, he didn't start off that badly. It was after Xhaka played some absolutely horrendous passes forward and towards him that resulted in Leicester breaking that he went completely into his shell. Happens. Shouldn't start ahead of Ramsey, who should be first choice with Xhaka, and it was a dreadful game for him along with Xhaka as well.

Think we should give him some more opportunity. Looked shaky against LC, but we are 2-0 with him and Xhaka this season.
