Way more limited technically than Torreira, Guendouzi and even Xhaka. He is still a reliable 4th choice CM.

Not being funny but the likes of Elneny should be nowhere near the Arsenal first team.

We are Arsenal FC, FFS !!!! How did we fall so far from where we were to be having players like Elneny in our midfield.

Complete knee jerking in here. You guys forget his run of form last season? The guy has it in him to play at our level and when he's not on form he's good enough to play our cup games.

Not every player in the squad has to be the second coming of an invincible

Fine given he’s on cheap wages and plays against shitters

Only way it could be better is if we had an academy boy who was as good but has potential in his place

Pretty much in agreement with your summary bar the sentiment that when not in form he's still ok for our cup games.

I too am aware that he never really received the recognition he deserved for some decent performances last year along with having a great attitude, but to me, when he's not on it he has a tendency to retreat into his shell a little bit and just play safe, concentrating on not making silly mistakes.

That to me is actually to the detriment of his natural game, like turning down the output of a Ferrari engine.

Looking at some of the training ground footage reels etc, and how Elneny might now view Torreira, it puts me in mind of the film Amadeus, and the portrayal of the composer Salieri in recognising the greater, unprecedented talent of Mozart and envying it.

According to Sky Sports we're willing to listen to incoming offers for Mo in January.

Say we receive a bid of £8m, should we accept the offer, or keep him?

Accept. Emery doesn't rate him so no use in keeping him

We have three CMs at Arsenal. If one of them goes down, we're down to two without Elneny. One of the two is a very talented boy, but not at the level yet.

No top club is as thin in the middle or on the flanks as we are. Selling Elneny would mean we would have to go for a back-up CM. Back-up because Emery seems to rate Xhaka a lot.

I'm not counting Ramsey as he won't be here on the long run and Emery basically sees him as a CAM. We're also in four competitions.

Any decision to sell should be taken in next summer unless we're going hard for a winger in Jan and need to raise funds, or if we intend to buy a CM who'd challenge Xhaka for a starting spot.

I think we should accept offers for him. I think he reached the ceiling of his potential and it's simply not good enough for us.

Ideally we would buy someone instead who is good enough to partner Torreira and get Xhaka out of the starting line up. Even if we didnt buy anyone and just promoted Niles to be 4th choice CM, we won't have much worse midfield options than before with El-Neny.

Pretty much echoes what I was thinking.

While Neny has been underwhelming this season, we can not afford to sell all of our CMs and think we'd get away without replacing either one.

So unless we can bring in an upgrade, it'd be foolish to sell Elneny.

Niles is not an option as he has come to a stage where he needs to be loaned out and play 30-40 games/season or he will just continue to stagnate.

Lately we've been linked with Porto's Héctor Herrera - he's supposed to be a high energy all-rounder whose contract expires come the end of the season.

Anyone on here who knows a thing or two about HH?

Would be hugely surprised if we went in for Herrera

no way we should sell him, he's not worth 20m and selling a player in jan for any less than that is pointless. Take 10m in the summer and use the time between now and then to find a good replacement.
