Well Ozil has to be CAM so we should've cashed in on rambo in the summer.

By being out of position and bombing forward to score goals, which is great, but that wasn't his job, plus his shine there was brief, and he hasn't done much since.

While we have Mkhi and Ozil, who are better there than Ramsey is, I do agree with you.

Ramsey, as a CM, won't cut it in the Premier League. I can only see him as a RW'er. He doesn't possess typical CM attributes anymore; he's poor as a CAM; we can't afford to play him as a false nine, so RW is his only position. Rotate with Mkhi.

41212 the way Uruguay played at the world cup (would mean dropping Mkhitaryan)

Otherwise if you want LMAO and Ramsey you'd need a 4231 with either Douzi or Torreira next to Ramsey. In that case it would either be Douzi-Ramsey and the question is will it be defensively solid enough or Lucy-Ramsey and the question will be how will we distribute.

The first question is answered with Emery getting Ramsey to play the way he played in 2013, not in quality but in style. First and foremost he was a ball winner, and then he was a late runner into the box. If Emery can replicate that then the Douzi-Ramsey partnership could work very well.

The second question is even simpler. Either Torrents is a good enough distributor or the partnership won't work against teams that let us have the ball. Although it could work in a counterattacking setup, which also plays to Ozil's strengths.

You hit the nail right on the head there pud.

That is why I wanted us to get Matic when it was rumoured he was on his way back to England as I thought he would have been a perfect foil for the likes of Ramsey, Ozil and Cazorla not to mention our defense.

Similar point in case with N'zonzi, and bear in mind that Ramsey has always viewed himself as a b2b type who would sit along side a more dominant defensive midfielder.

The problem is now, do we supress the burgeoning promise of either douzi & torry in order to best accommodate Ramsey where he wants to play, or shove him further forward at the expense of Ozil who has been our playmaker in chief since the demise of Santi?

As a team we are still a bit of a conundrum but Emery seems smart enough to figure it out.
