So we are penny pinching for some guy that plays in the Switzerland league and is 25 years old 2016. Jesus! We have 200m in the bank, Coquelin is good but he just started to be good for all that we know he could be shit after his injury. This is why we will not win the title and we will never be more than just a top3-4 club. And if this guy was anygood, 1. why are we the only team chasing him. 2. Why does he cost 4,5 million. We are always doing the bare minimum and that frustrates the f**k out of me. We wanted Carvalho in the summer, just pay the f***ing fee for him and be done with it.

We should be aiming at upgrading on Arteta and Flamini not buying like for like.
grzegorz krychowiak, William Carvalho, Ruben Neves, Danilo, Y.Tielemans, Gundogan. This is the kind of signing we should be aiming to make.

I would rather stick with Flamini and Wele if in means we are buying in some 23 year old egyptan guy from the Switz league and 25 year old russian that has been poor in the Russian league.

He can be a quality signing. Like Koscielny for example. Krychowiak , Gundogan and Carvalho are not Real Madrid or Bayern Munich type signings , they're not on that level either. Tielemans and Neves are just kids , Tielemans is not even a defensive midfielder...

arsenal_for_ever wrote:as I'm originally from Egypt I've known him for years. He's really hard working (by end of the round of 16 last year in the CL he had covered ca. 97km in 8 matches topping the list of players till this stage). He has experience for his age, international debut in 2011.
He's also not injury prone. In the last 3 years only 2 minor injuries.
In the last seasons he was kind of an unknown soldier. He was making these 5-7 meter passes and didn't attack much.
He improved a lot this season in this aspect. He offers more by shooting (strong and relatively accurate) and scoring more often.
I think he's not really one for the Arsenal-Startup line yet, but he has the potential. As backup for Coq, he will do the job.
Sorry for my english

Amen , sign him up

You answered my question yourself by quoting this.
"I think he's not really one for the Arsenal-Startup line yet, but he has the potential. As backup for Coq, he will do the job"
. We should be buying an upgrade on Coq not a backup for him. Coquelin is so bloody limited that we are awful in Europe.
And Koschielny was awful his first 2-3 seasons at arsenal, so i cant understand why someone would point to that.

13th of May 2012 Arsenal beat West Brom 3-2 to finish 3rd ahead of Newcastle. Gooney is still yet to leave the forum...

Likewise. Guy is one top passers so far this season. Replacement for Arteta maybe.

If we are indeed getting him, then

jules_w wrote:I have a good feeling about this

Coquelin has shown that he's good enough to be a starter and all I wanted was a backup better than Flamini and Arteta and so far this guy looks like he can do a job

A Gabriel type of signing hopefully. Capable if not spectacular, with potential. I'm pleased, particularly if he comes in early in January.

I'm not holding high hopes as the compilation looks shit (although it is just a comp). Seems like a B2B too

Has Wenger ever signed so early in January?
