Look at these quotes and tell me we aren't going in the right direction under Arteta? We were at such a low point when Emery left:

Mohamed Elneny: “I feel like when you play in one of the biggest teams in the world & you have an amazing family & the fans are really amazing as well - they make me feel special. You feel like this club is special for you.”

Says more about Elneny than it does the direction we're headed with Arteta.

Elneny has his head on straight which is more than I can about several others associated with Arsenal right now. To repeat what you said: "good squad player."

He doesn't need to, we have other midfielders to do that

We don't, but we should.

I’m glad we decided to give him a new contract, Lokanga needs to go on loan next season, he’s not good enough to be backup.

It’s a shame Arteta hates Guendouzi as he is far better than Lokanga

Yep very valuable CDM for a squad which is now back in Europe.

If we want to get a CF and CM etc we don't have the money to buy extra players as 2nd string so re-signing a 2nd string that can play well even in top 4 games and he's cheap is great to add towards the depth we now need.

We're no longer just in the Prem, we now have all the cups on and we need a Europa squad.

Decent player who has shown loyalty to the club time and time again.

I'm glad we renewed him. Less glad we're still simping over players that have rejected extension offers multiple times.

Could teach Partey a thing or two about shooting from range

Yes, and should start at the base of midfield. Generates more confidence.

Agreed.

At this point we know what we get, solid CDM who can also shoot from range.

Time to start appreciating what he does for us rather than look down on him because he's not a fancy high priced name.

The strategy that I'd like to see utilised this season regards the CDM role in the team, would be to have Mo play all the Carabo and Europa League games before the break for the WC and then after it all the F.A Cup matches (yes, plural) as well.

That would equate to a significant reduction of Partey's workload and playing time in order to avert fatigue and increase his recovery period between Premier League games, whilst arming ourselves with 2 well oiled and drilled defensive midfielders completely in-tune with the defenders behind and midfielders and attackers in front of them so that the rhythm of the team doesn't skip a beat in interchanging them.

The resulting bonus feature would be the scope to play them both together in midfield for those extremely difficult away matches in particular that we have become all too accustomed to seeing us used to wipe the floor with, that now we can avoid defeat in and ultimately pull off that first and long overdue shock away win.

Never going to win anything beyond domestic cups with El Neny and Xhaka.

Apparently suffered a major injury thus we are heading back in to the market

Not sure how accurate this is

Then Tomiyasu in for Ben White at right back tbf and Ben White going to Defensive Midfielder or is going to back to a 5 at the back tbf. Or maybe XHAKA dropping dead and Either ESR or Vieira to playing the Box to Box role tbf
