Elneny is what he is; an average footballer at best. There's no reason to set a high bar for him.

Yeah I agree. But at some point we need to admit that he is NOT the right man for the job and so we have to look elsewhere. I think some were hoping he could fill in the hole but in reality he is not good enough. Not his fault.

Like Welbeck, he can play a role as a sub when needed to close out the game

Was not bought as a starter, should never be a starter, probably on low wages as well, should be kept around.

Can't believe how he's still better than Xhaka

Limited as f**k, but if it's him or Xhaka, there is zero contest. Start him.

"Hard as" Granit "Xhak the Attack" Xhaka is a tough tackling midfielder who balances precision passing and hollywood long-balls with a steely determination to win. Send him back forty five years to play in Don Revie's Leeds United team and he'd have been a legend.

Sadly, the game's moved on and he's neither smart enough nor quick enough to be effective at this level in the modern game.

Needs to start ahead of Xhaka.

We need a midfielder willing to do the graft and hold, why the hell do we need Xhaka being a spare body when we have Ozil, Wilshere and Mkhitarayan to take the ball forward, let alone Ramsey as well.

Xhaka offers nothing, Elneny doesn't lose the ball as much either.

Xhaka is living off his price tag alone.

Knew we were going to leak goals without him, Sergio busquests he is not but he's certainly no Xhaka either and he's the best holding midfielder we've got.

Limited af, as said previously, but always gives 100% on the field, and only one of ours who isn't hiding after defeat.

Need better next season, but ffs, play him ahead of Xhaka

No Elneny again and we leaked goals left, right and centre say what you like about him but he's easily our best holding mid who can do the basics unlike Xhaka.

Elneny was very good today. His passing was very expansive today. Played some great balls especially in the final third.

Its incredible. We bought two and neither are good enough

An least Elneny looks like he's making an effort but that doesn't mean he's good enough

I got confused with the term DM. Xhaka was not the last midfielder protecting the defenders when in Gladbach. It was Mahmoud Dahoud. Dunno about Elneny though.

Was very happy with his performance, gets stuck in which is what we need and some of his passing was great, drove forward and came back to defend the back four.

Xhaka improved today but I still thought Elneny covered more ground.
