Elneny is a problem because every CM we have is lopsided. We have an uneven team/uneven players apart from AOL. Then, as far as big names go, Elneny isn't the £30m man that
Alonso Xhaka is. Elneny isn't the next Lampard - who's only had one great season in his life. Elneny sure as heck isn't the darling of most Gooners i.e. Cesc Fabregas.
What Elneny is, in fact, is a tidy player who's the most balanced and even CM we have. He's good with the ball. He's good defensively and he does have decent vision to find those passes. He's stable and reliable - but he doesn't excel at anything particularly. As I've said before, he's our second-best CM (after Santiago) because of how well-rounded he is overall. That doesn't mean he's spectacular in any aspect of the game. He's just good, which can't be said for most Arsenal players these days.
Look at it: Xhaka plays like a good ball-playing CB subbing as a CM (Zenith's description—the best I've read of Xhaka) and Ramsey is poor man's Alli. Xhaka isn't quite a CM or a DM. He's a DLP. Ramsey isn't a DM, a CM, or a CAM. He's one of those Alli type of players who pretend to be CAMs but are just finishers, which admittedly Ramsey is average at - save for one season. Wilshere isn't reliable because of his injuries, but the Jack of the last two games (Zvezda games) is more of an indicator than the Wilshere against, hold your breath, Barcelona.
That said, I would like to see Wilshere and Elneny as a pair in this 3-4-3. Would be much more stable than Xhaka and Ramsey in the middle.
