.......... and this is the guy who some think will adequately replace Ozil?

I like Jack but he cannot be Ozil's replacement.

Wake we up when he stops running into trouble and keeps losing the ball.

Never going to change.

Just not a very smart player.

It’s not enjoyable watching him like this, he’s writing cheques his body can’t cash. Similar to Sturridge in that regard

Can't believe there are people who still put stock in Wilshere.

Wilshere is never going to be what people want him to be, they need to accept this. He will fall short time and time again.

I wish this were not the case but I don't see any development from him, I see no end product in his game.

There's a disconnect between brain and body ... when the brain works the body doesn't and when the body works the brain switches off ... he's had one stellar game in ten throughout his career what's that going to win us?

Last night wasn't an accurate reflection of Wilshere, or perhaps it was albeit mildly off point.

Wilshere tried to force the issue as the game progressed. He wasn't doing his usual shinanigans in the first half, but the ball barely reached him on the right. Most of the play was centered around the left flank.

From around the 40 min mark, Wilshere moved more centrally - floating like Ozil does - with Chambers playing as an attacking full back. That's when Jack went to becoming Jack. He was desperate to make something happen.

It didn't help that everyone had forgotten how to pass, cross, or dribble. Giroud was dinking and dunking like no tomorrow. Wilshere was trying to play one-touch football, and failing miserably, whilst Niles was doing his best Oxlade Chamberlain impression.

And Coquelin-Elneny double pivot was inspiring as David Moyes talking.

None of the players showed any urgency, so shame on them. The team selection was weird too. Midfield should have featured Coq/Elneny and Wilshere. Nelson on the right and Iwobi on the left, with Giroud up top. That would have at least elevated the style.

As people have already mentioned, Wilshere doesn't have that burst he once possessed and his body isn't responding to what his brain is telling it.

It's a sad case. And with the mismanagement of Jack since that 10/11 season, there's another player who Wenger has failed at some level.

To be fair Wilshere was trying to play champagne football with a bunch of duffers around him ! You need footballers with a good footballing IQ to play the intricate stuff he tried to play in the second half.

That said, he can only blame himself for losing the ball as many times as he did, it was usually because he dilly dallied or did not have awareness that players were about to get a foot in.

I was worried this was going to happen. Play few games and be exposed and not as good as people think he is. Honestly the best thing that can happen to him is get injured now and keep the hype up. The more he plays the more overrated he looks. He is simply too slow now and he has never been a smart player. I mean he is a dumb person, so we cant expect him to be a smart player

Doesn't shy away from a healthy dose of self-mockery.

Yeah i think he merits a start, he is wasted in the 2nd string, he needs top players around him to play the game he does.
