Some of his performances of late and arguably the whole of this season so far, make it difficult to go against the current tide of opinion of him not having been good enough.

I too am in agreement with that sentiment, but just for clarity, that he has not been good enough is completely different to him not being good enough.

Having first taken an interest when he, Kagawa, Gundogan and Lewendowski et al had Dortmund tearing it up, he was a player I had hoped to see amongst our ranks asap.

Some of his performances last season seemed to indicate that he was starting to warm up to the task of reproducing his pre Old Trafford form again.

Unfortunately, his injury and probably the haste to get him back in contention for the semi-finals with Atletico, killed the upward trajectory of his form guide and any positivity that went with it.

It almost appears that he has not fully shaken off that screeching halt to his Arsenal career, and even in pre season he never seemed able to get into 3rd, 4th or 5th gears or even match the level he was at prior to the injury.

Against Leicester, the second half performance of Ozil rightfully had people in raptures and was a demonstration of the level of technical ability only afforded to the best of the best.

Whilst the argument might be that performances like that are all too infrequent and sporadic to justify such 'luxury' players, Mkhitaryan is the only other creative player we have who having done it before, has the ability to produce that top top level also. My hope is that he is at last ready to do so again.

For all the nonsensical actions and lack of foresight and structured organisation we have endured, it's amazing that we have managed to have such skillful talent as Cazorla, Fabregas, Hleb, Rosicky, Ozil, Nasri, Sanchez and Mkhitaryan on our books.

He was pretty shite last night. Annoying because you know he can do more. He needs to start showing it, we can't be carrying players, everyone needs to do their bit.

His reputation and talent puts him clearly ahead of Iwobi and Welbeck but so far actual performance has not been the case, if anything he's falling behind.

Not looking good this season at all, started fine but gone downhill drastically.

Still not much worse than Iwobi or Welbeck but hey.

Most top four rejects are rejected for a good reason ... Mkhi has all the ability but something just seems to be missing ... but on 7m a year I'm sure he's not that bothered ... and that's probably the problem ....

Dude he is miles worse!!

2018/19 stats all comps.
Iwobi - 1 goal 4 assists
Welbeck - 5 goals 1 assist
Mikhi - 1 goal 3 assists

Then take into account the number of times we praised Iwobi this season for showing an improvement. Ok Welbz hasn't shown any improvement but you always get work rate from him. Now recall the number of times we said Mikhi was shit.

All in all I would say Mikhi has been comfortably the worst player out of the 3

That may be the case but Welbeck is scoring and we pay Mkhitaryan 170k to be better than them, he's not earning his corn at the moment and I like Mkhi, but I can't deny he's in danger of being playing himself into being irrelevant.

We could be using that wage on a much more effective player, DeBruyne's on feckin 170k.

How the hell are City managing to fkin get away with that one??? that is shocking that DeBruyne isn't on 200k + ............ and Wenger used to say other teams were damaging the league by paying over the odds!! our wage bill is atrocious compared to most other clubs.

He simply can't adapt to the PL by the looks if it.

It looks too quick for him and he's the sort of player who needs to be in control of things to be able to make an impact.

I think his mentality is also quite weak.

Was so shit. He doesn’t have the impact to be so lazy when tracking back. Left Bellerin exposed far too much first half. Was also sloppy in possession.

Sell him next summer and let Nelson take his place
