You expect a 17 year old to start banging in goals straight away?

Pires was already an accomplished player when he joined us

You cannot move the goalposts to suit your argument. If what he did as a teenager should not be counted remove the goals he scored also during that time.

Oh look, he hasn't scored 100 goals for Arsenal now.

Imagine having a selection headache over Theo, Welbeck, Xhaka, and Iwobi.

To be fair to Iwobi, he isn't as limited/poor as the other three. Yes, his finishing isn't up to mark, but his technique is solid and he can at least control the ball better than Theo/Welbz. He also doesn't panic under pressure like Xhaka does or play as an underdeveloped CB (thanks Zen for that).

To be fair to Theo (also), he's a product of poor coaching, fitness issues, and English overhype. At his best, Theo is better than the likes of Chamberlain, Welbeck, and Iwobi (from what he's shown us so far). Yet, sadly, he could never push the boundaries once he hit his prime and today, he's past his prime years. Theo Walcott, in essence, is the Wenger of the Emirates era. Could have excelled, but various factors didn't allow him/he couldn't do it/he didn't want to do it.

Theo is the kind of player that would have excelled under SAF. He wouldn't have been world class, but he'd have been a title-defining player for one or two seasons before fading away.

Only player we have that doesn't accept the pass pass pass crap we play.

Willing to run in behind hoping against all hope he will get a pass but look at our CMs, santi, Xhaka, elneny 3 players who can't pass forward. And thus Theo is caught offside cos the timing of the pass is shit.

He was good. He was better than today's Sterlin. He could succeed in this City team. But we have to accept the truth, he is not good any more.

19 goals last season. Best player when he's started this.

He's still got it. And he's done it in the important games this season as well.

Assists and goals in the only competition I care about this season. And I said this before we started to play in it.

He's ripped apart every criticism that has been made of him and still going strong.

Only because he has no footballing brain whatsoever. I bet he is the last pick when it comes to playing 5-a-side or 2 touch.

He's not useless, far from it, but when he is not scoring he is absolute shit and you don't even know he is playing. What do you do, you you play him and get an average goal return with half the games played as Mr Anonymous or do you admit defeat and get someone with more ability who doesn't go missing for long periods ?

Again this lack of footballing bran crap is something Hansen said and which he apologised for but it stuck.

Anyone who's seen him play, seen him make the runs he does, the space he makes for other players, arguably the brightest player we have. But people believe the media over what's actually going on on the pitch
