Not a single keeper on the planet has the ability to catch the ball with his legs in this particular situation.

Genuinely perplexed this needs to be explained.

Yes, goalkeepers make saves from deflected shots all the time. So does Leno.

Also don't see any goalkeepers catching the ball with their legs. Emphasis on catching, not stopping, like Leno did.

Instead of hiding behind whataboutery, try raising valid points about the actual situation.

Pretty much. In general, this board tends to focus on the wrong areas. Plenty wrong with that first goal and Leno having to deal with a deflected shot shouldn't even be a talking point.

First goal he parried a fairly weak shot straight out in front of him.
Not good enough.
Arteta dropped them ball selling EMI.
Couldn't be more obvious after seeing Leno make howlers week after week.

Yup. Second goal was on him as well. He didn’t deal with it. He’s physically not up to this league. Insane to sell Emi.

Fwiw it’s not the goals that we conceded for me. It’s his poor communication with the defenders and how he struggles to hold unto the ball or push the ball away from danger. Both flaws were on display against wolves with the former happening just minutes into the game

And Runarsarous is another toothpick. We need hard men like Emi who psyche out the opponent.

He needs to eat some raw meat and toughen up a bit, never looks commanding in his area, Martínez was a beast in his area Leno is like a fairy.

His major weaknesses are
1) regularly spills the ball and parries into danger
2) as you say, his communication. happened again early in the game yesterday. A non-threatening ball into the box resulted in a corner simply because he didn't make a call
3) His distribution
4) Poor decision making on when to come for crosses and when not to as well as when to punch and when to catch.

Basically, he's nothing more than a shot-stopper. Has good reflexes and athleticism. That is about it.

Villa will sell Emi for double what they bought him for. Another stupid transfer decision from us.

The whole defence looked far more comfortable under Emi

This is the only reason that selling Emi matters. Leno would be top class in a team that has proper defenders that don't shit the bed when we lose possession.

Our defense is largely not PL quality. Holding, Luiz, Mustafi need a babysitter that tells them where to be and what to do. Emi did that like a seasoned pro, or rather, like a man who's done time with shambolic Championship defenders and adapted.

This exactly to elaborate on #3 his distribution really pisses me off, remember how quick EMI used to release the ball with accuracy, by the time Leno decides who to pass it to the other team have already regained their defensive shape.

The worst thing about this Leno situation is the fact that he’s always gonna be comfortable at this level like Almunia was, not worrying about injuries/form because as soon as he’s back the other keeper gets sold or benched.

This is exactly like Szczesny and Gnabry again they spent a season or two at clubs like Roma and Bremen before being picked up by bigger teams to replace their legends Buffon and Robben.

I’ll give it two seasons before EMI is picked up by a bigger side, Lampard should have bough him instead of Mendy really, although that guys doing well atm.

Do you think Liverpool would be generous enough to give us Karius on loan next season, maybe he’s slightly less bad
