Leno is a player we can upgrade on but he's far from the biggest problem right now.

And? Alisson gifted us a goal last season and nobody will question his ability.

This take is honestly just bizarre. He was our best player last season (bar Aubameyang) prior to his injury, and has mostly been fine since his return, even if you want to get picky with a few things he could have done better with. I get that some people preferred Emi, but Leno suddenly isn't good enough to play for Arsenal? Really?

He saved our asses numerous times last season. I feel like I'm going mad reading stuff like this.

it was always going to be the way

as i predicted

Agendas above all else.

Honestly, if Leno isn't good enough to play for Arsenal, then we have around 2-3 players who actually are.

Correct.

Thanks for posting this, because predictably some fans will dig out Leno for every minor mistake and turn a blind eye to any one Martinez now makes. I don't want to dig out Emi but we have to remember he played brilliantly for us over a very short space of time, and ultimately over the course of a season he's going to make mistakes.

too many idiots riding off on martinez's purple patch.

i'd trust the management team on this.

leno was our poty after auba last season, yet got forgotten for martinez's 6-7 game purple patch run. The guy was here for 10 years yet only then looked like a decent goalie?

I don't buy it. I also wonder if having no crowd helped him which will not be the case in the future. I expect to see more mistakes out of him for the rest of the season and people to promptly pipe down.

It's not about individual errors... all keeper have them and they are only an issue if they are regular.
Leno's problem is that he is awful on crosses. Can;t be a top goalkeeper with that flaw.

Ultimately, I trust Arteta and Cana on this decision. They watched him week in, week out since he came in, and for reasons that are obvious Martinez was always going to attract more offers from clubs than Leno.

The choice was either keep both or sell Emi, realistically.

Doesn't matter, he's no longer here therefore he is undoubtedly the undisputed goalkeeping god and would never make a mistake if he stayed.

Perfectly natural feeling when reading Jayram's posts

Because he's a good player and as I said not a problem right now. Emi is still better in my opinion.

Based on 1 purple patch in 10 years and not an actual good couple of seasons from leno?
