More rumours in Italy about Napoli's desire to make his move permanent.

A figure of €3.5m (£3.1m) is mentioned as Arsenal's alleged asking price.

Why are we still so bad at selling players?
Ospina isn't a great keeper but worth at least 5-7m in todays market, even with one year left on his contract.
Happy to get rid though.

Good servant to the club

Football Italia
Ospina: 'Napoli avoiding clause'

David Ospina admits the rumours Napoli want to avoid purchasing him outright from Arsenal are true. “I knew this might happen.”

The Colombia international was signed over the summer after Alex Meret fractured a bone in his arm during only the second training session.

Napoli brought Ospina in on loan with option to buy, but a clause would make that option mandatory if he reaches a certain number of appearances.

“My current situation is that I am on loan for this season and there’s a clause based on the number of games, so if I play regularly, it’ll become an automatic purchase,” Ospina told Radio Blu.

“When the situation doesn’t depend on me, all I can do is wait for the decisions to be made by Napoli. The club had just spent a lot of money on Meret, a young goalkeeper with a great future ahead of him, so I knew that when he came back from injury, this might happen.

↑ If he was so fantastic, teams would be biting our hands off for the £3m we're asking.

But then if he was such a great keeper we'd be asking much more than 'just' £3m.

The reality is that, despite our numerous efforts to offload him, no club has so far been willing to meet our asking price and match his current salary.

Last night, I saw quotes from Ancelotti saying they were going to sign him permanently for a €4m fee in the Summer. It seems like he will be gone.

I'm not saying that we should and I'm only asking the question because I genuinely don't know, but does anyone know if technically we're within our rights to get insider information from our loanee, without it being contrary to any code of conduct in the arrangement between our clubs, or loan transfers in general for that matter?

There is probably a moral element to consider as well as principles, and personally I wouldn't bother, but given the recent Bielsa furore at Leeds, and the 'do whatever it takes to win' professional football mentality as exists, it made me wonder.
