He wasn't going to start in the NLD anyway, just means Laca might get a full 90 instead of being subbed off at 70mins.

Might be bad for the Europa though unless Welbeck is up and running.

Welbeck has passed a fitness test and is back in training.

Having said that, it's still Arsenal, meaning a set back is invariably lurking around the corner.

GI-RUINED! STRIKER SUFFERS INJURY ON INTERNATIONAL DUTY

Arsene Wenger was dealt an injury worry today after Olivier Giroud was ruled out of France’s friendly with Germany.

The 31 year old picked up a thigh strain during the 2-0 win over Wales on Friday night, a game in which the Arsenal man scored, making him the seventh highest goalscorer in France’s history.

It was his 29th goal for his country, leaving him only behind the legendary Jean Pierre Papin and Just Fontaine.

Thierry Henry is the all-time leading scorer with 51, followed by Michel Platini with 41, David Trezeguet with 34, and Zinedine Zidane and Pascal Cygan both on 31.

It remains to be seen how serious the problem is, and he’ll return to London for treatment but clearly there’ll be doubts about whether or not he’ll be fit for next weekend’s North London derby.

Olivier Giroud wants a loan move from Arsenal to get regular first-team football and secure his place in France's World Cup squad. West Ham and Crystal Palace are both interested in the 31-year-old striker. (Sunday Mirror)

Great goal.

Has to come on before Welbeck in these situations. Giroud+Lacazette when we need a goal, instead of the headless moron

He scored a vital goal for us yet again. He should have been brought on at the start of second half. It was clear Lacazette was having an off day failing to make impact.

As a sub though?

Wouldn't start him over Lacazette unless they are played together, Laca still offers more all round especially against teams not parking the bus.

Will someone please explain to me why we can't play Ollie up top with ozil behind as CAM flanked by Sanchez on the left and lacazette mirroring him on the right? Because to me, with the perpetual movement, vision, intelligent play and sheer graft that Sanchez and lacca both offer complimented by Ollie's ability to hold the ball and bring others into play as well as his own scoring prowess and skill set and all 3 being fed by ozil, it's a no brainer. Whilst most see how the triumvirate of AOL works well together, have we forgotten that ozil, Sanchez and Giroud also have a good and PROVEN natural connection together. Add to that that the Frenchmen play together nationally and I can find no obvious reason why we are ignoring this combination for the sake of having an extra defender in the team and playing a formation that doesn't compliment our style of play compared to the 4;2;3;1 we would play with this set up. We still concede stupid goals with three at the back so why sacrifice Giroud for an extra ineffective defender? Lets defend from the front and at least have a chance of scoring more than the opposition. Everyone is giving plaudits to man City for their set up so again I ask why the hell can't we do similar and after all we were the original Barcelona lite weren't we?
