So here’s a question. If we hadn’t left Ozil out of the squad, you think Arteta would recall him at this point?

Yes.
Whether he wanted to start Ozil in every game or not, it was an absolutely crazy decision to completely remove the option.
There are games where playing Ozil may not be the best choice - but those games are rare....away to teams where we know we will have limited possession and have to hold out for long periods.
No one in our squad is better at receiving the ball, linking play, picking the right pass/option, weighting passes, creating chances. No one - and it's not even close.
No matter how bad it gets, at least we don't have to put up with Wenger anymore

Yes. To be honest that is the one thing I give credit to Emery for, he swallowed his pride and went back to the Ozil well when things were not looking good. Admitting you made a mistake is far tougher than staying there staunchly denying one - when the ship is sinking around you.

But pride has screwed Arteta, that option is not there for him, unless he lasts to January and re-considers.

Arteta has brought this on himself, he’s stuck by and praised players like Xhaka, Mustafi and Luiz, he’s been reluctant or not played the likes of Martinelli, Pepe and Saliba and he totally left Ozil out (and Saliba of course).

These kind of things make him look incompetent, the double standards is unbelievable you just can’t have one rule for one and another one for others, it’s not good for squad harmony.

If he was doing everything he could and it wasn’t working I’d give him a break, but he’s not, far from it in fact so the sooner he’s out of here the better.

Why would Ozil save Arteta his job? He knows he’s off in summer and he’d rather stick it to Arteta.

I think Ozil would play the second half of the season and do his best.
I doubt he wants to 'stick it' to Arteta.

I don't think Arteta will last till the end of January, though.

Arteta won't bring him back

New manager might though and Ozil will lead us to safety and hopefully a Europa League triumph before leaving in the summer

You are not watching any Ozil.
You are watching a team devoid of any creative ability instead.
Ozil is at home on 350k a week.

At this point it would look ridiculous if we don't bring him back in January

Don’t know why you’d watch Emery burn himself over this guy and then do the same. If you wanted a creative midfielder then fine, but we didn’t get one and therefore Ozil simply had to be kept as an option for exactly these reasons.

We didn’t necessarily need him, we did fine without him from June to August but to completely bin him and rely on Willock was beyond retarded. Might have cost him his job.

Ozil is 32 he is not the future - why play him for 4 months and deny young players time on the pitch, it's not as if he's done anything in the last two years and we're not finishing top four with or without him ...

The Ozil decision has been made, rightly or wrongly, what's the point of going back over old ground now? Ozil is gone come the summer the situation has been a total clusterfeck another five months of player v manager is that really helping anyone?

I’m not sure Arteta deserves the blame in this. Leaving Ozil out of the squad quite possibly was a decision made by someone higher up on the food chain.

What future? We are talking about saving this season from disaster. You need every experienced hand on deck. You groom young players when you have squad stability. Not when you are fighting from falling into the drop zone. Madness.
