Wenger converted Santi into a CM from his usual AM position, i think Arteta was always a certified CM tbh so becoming a DM was a simple transition.

Rosicky was always a good CM especially in his peak years at Dortmund, I don't we ever saw peak Rosicky at Arsenal, maybe for a few months in 2007 before he got that injury which setback his power, a bit of his pace alongside stamina. He was a playmaker but one with not just such incredible technique, vision, passing ability and style but so much hard work and willingness to run.

I still persist on a player taking responsibility to offer himself available to different roles without a manager asking him to play there. I see nothing stopping Ozil from discussing a CM role within a 4-3-3 formation and asking Arteta to help guide him what his duties need to be as a CM compared to DM.

But that's Wenger making the decision. We don't know what talks happened behind the scenes but I personally don't think it's on the player to make that call. It's unfair to hold something like that against him.

Rosicky was a great CM and I couldn't wait to see him and Cesc play through the middle when we first signed him but it never happened. Wenger decided to play him in wide areas for the majority of his career. Is that the fault of the coach or player? I say it's the coach. Just like it's on Arteta for playing Aubameyang wide instead of through the middle.

Can we leave his politics out of this? Has nothing to do with his on-field form.

For example, Juan Mata's 1% initiative is a fantastic way of encouraging wealthy players to give more to their communities and pressure clubs to pay their staff a living wage. None of that change tthe fact that Mata is finished as a top player and has been for a while.

Bingo.

That was a mismanagement on Arsenal's part.

Cant blame Ozil's and Alexis's agents winning the chess match.

Both of the agents got their players paid by taking advantage of Arsenal's incompetency.

I have mentioned it earlier. Ozil's agent is very shrewd and he played the marketing angle and Arsneal's desperate situation well.

Real talk here.
Very honest.
No one would argue about this.
The only contention will arise when his fan-club tries to assure as that an Egg is an Orange. That he stayed at Arsenal because he did it out of loyalty and care for our club. That is where some of us will call bull-crap on it.
Lol

Dont think anybody in this forum doubts this. Rarely seen such hatred for a player, especially for somebody, who has always been loyal to Arsenal.

Ain’t there a difference between “Hate and Dislike”?

To some, everything is hate.

Criticism = Hate.

Dislike = Hate.

Not rating someone = Hate.

Not worshiping a player / not ass-licking a player = Hate.

Disagreement = Hate.

Differing opinion = Hate.

And Loyal to Arsenal by running down his contract to the last few months and holding us to Ransom? Did it on purpose to squeeze as much money from the club as possible. What kind of loyalty is that? Typical Mercenary more like.

good post "hate" wtf? i just dislike that he fleeced us and now is a bang avergae player.

Yes, he pissed of Emery, he pissed off Freddie and seems like hes even pissed off his old teammate Arteta.

Like i have discussed with PnG, I'm pissed because we both agree he should change position. Drop back in midfield, but i'm so pissed he refuses to adapt to a role like this because in his own mind he's never wrong and just plays how he wants while hiding behind excuses when things go wrong.

Yes, we agree on Ozil moving into a deeper CM role. As you can see under Areta he's stepped his work rate up. If we decide not to buy Ceballos from Real Madrid then we really need to consider it because there is a real lack of quality in midfield when it comes to going forward.

It's clear Ozil is not going to leave before his contract is up and that's just bad business on our part. But I'm not sure if he's refusing to play as CM. I just think he hasn't been tried there.

It looks like Arteta's preferred formation is a 4-2-3-1 so I doubt he'll play a 4-3-3 so it's just a case of trying something different. You know I'm not a fan of Willock but maybe playing Ozil in the Ceballos CM role and Willock as the 10 could help get something more out of both or maybe try Martinelli as the 10.

How is Ozil going on o handle the hustle and bustle of CM in the EPL?
The guy has struggled to dominate in his so-called favoured position (No10) since he moved to Arsenal. This has been the outcry since wenger tried to turn him into a more versatile “If you can’t Play Ozil in his best / favoured position or don’t play him at all. Because he is not a winger, not a CM. Can’t buy a Ferrari and expect it to perform off-road blah blah”.
That was when he was supposed to be in his prime 25-29 years old. More energetic.

Now that he is 31 years old and finished is when he will suddenly make a massive change and become a CM?

Just Imagine Xhaka, Ozil as your core CM. They can’t tackle, very slow, easily dispossessed, can’t defend, can’t press, easy to ghost past, they have as much energy as late great great grandma etc.

I am very skeptical.

PnG is current in his thought process. Its just he has more faith in Ozil to play there than me. I have zero faith left in Ozil. He's been a bad signing overall, he was meant to take us to the next level. A statement of intent for us to move away from the transitional stadium mortgage period to a period where we challenge for titles regularly. He was world class for 1 and a half seasons, decent for two seasons either side of that but has been a disgrace the last two seasons to sour all his work here.

Ozil massively over states his importance at Arsenal, he represents a type of player we haven't ever seen at this club. A player who genuinely thinks he's bigger than the club and the club should bow to his demands over the benefit of the club progressing forward. A player whos ego actively excludes any negativity he rejects or can't handle. This has shown in his downfall where at the root of it he refuses to adapt his game to his physical decline of pace to adjust to a suitable deeper CM position or even something of an alternate false 9 role at another club.

Alexis, van Persie, Fabregas, Ramsey, Nasri, were not only much better players for us but never ever held us back while playing here. When they played always gave 100% even Nasri in his last game already signed for City played out of respect. Only disrespect we saw from these guys was Cesc Spanish GP snub. I have forgiven all these players for leaving seeing our club for what its become. The worlds most expensive pub team. I mean Ramsey did leave on a good note anyway but him leaving on a free was the most powerful statement of the group of players mentioned.

We have had 3 issues which have resulted in this disaster of a season.

1. Board poor decision making in recruitment in the summer regarding departures in balance of incoming signings. Leading to a horribly unbalanced squad.

2. Emery losing his control of the dressing room due to his passive attempts to assemble a good enough midfield for the season. The delay in replacing him further destroying our season as a whole.

3. A key factor to what caused 1 and 2 to occur.

We lost £27 million last year. £18 million of that loss was spend paying the wages of our highest earner at the club to accumulate.

1 goal, 1 assist,

and also another assist in a micky mouse cup vs Liverpool C, by early March, just 11 games to go before the season ends in 2 months!!!

This is why i have to take my hat off to you Goonerz. You saw this earlier and most and have been consistent in seeing through him. I was a Ozil fan, he was one of my top 20 favourite players to watch in his peak years, especially at Werder Bremen then with Germany 2009-2014. He was quality in his peak but his drop off in ability has been a very steep downhill plunge. A respectful player to our club would have left us to fins another club and find a level where he can be effective, releasing us of the 350k to help rebuild the team. However Ozil and his ego says no. He's too comfortable and enjoys his lifestyle over Arsenal progressing.

Ozil is a big reason why Arsenal are still the biggest laughing stock of the season.

- The filth down N17 may have embarrassed themselves as usual vs Norwich and look to be heading for ironically another trophyless season with their 'special one' for trophies. They are still ahead of us!

- Manure who have been a hot dumpster fire and decaying waste all year have refreshed their midfield with quality in Bruno Fenandes who has now given them a solid chance of CL football next season, they are still ahead of us!

- Chelsea have a bad manager, been embarrassed numerous times, still far ahead of us and genuine shot in the drivers seat for CL.

- Liverpool, a team 5 years ago Ozil helped beat 4-1 at home have given us our biggest cheer of the season, their poor defeat to Norwich to destroy their bid to surpass our invincibles. While singing 49, 49 to them come May when they visit the grove may sting them a big, forming a guard of honor to Sir f***ing Henderson and his knights of average midfielders will hurt like hell.

Then we will see a concrete confirmation of how they have progressed, become elite, won the games biggest prize and won the League by a record margin. We will be at best fighting for top 6.

Don't worry folks. Ozil's entourage which entertains 40+ million followers will have plenty of ready made excuses ready to why Ozil cannot serve Aubameyang any of his 18 goals this season along with getting more than just 1 goal himself. We will probably see them start a Arteta out campaign god forbid.

If we are to move forward. Ozil is the number 1 player who must go. Not just to free up 350k. But we need a mental cleanse from his ego within the club and a line in the sand we never ever have a situation and a player like this ever again at Arsenal.

I wouldn't go as far as saying I have faith in him being able to play as CM. It's more so looking at what he's good at and exhausting all options tactically. We need progressive passers in the midfield and that's a skill Ozil hasn't lost.
