Better clubs have players like him. We have him and after him is Xhaka, Mkiy and Iwobi. Chew on that.

No club has a player like Ozil starting for them. You won't find a similar player at a top club that is allowed to play how he plays. The central number 10 position has almost become obsolete and the playmakers are shifting to wide positions or putting in a lot of defensive work and further away from the box.

Oh goody then our wide players can replace him. Too bad we ain’t got none. Maybe hold off on the football 2020 vision for a bit longer till we buy some wide players.

I'm still waiting for you to name the 'Ozil's' at other top clubs.

Ozil was a top player years ago. The game has changed and left him behind. He's still got the technique and if given a free role can still be useful. Sadly the free role doesn't exist anymore. KDB, Silva and Eriksen are examples of how the modern 10 has to play. None of these players would get picked by their managers without having good work rate. As for covering the ground, Ozil does cover ground but at no point does it ever feel like he's fully gonna be 100% commited in making a tackle or pressuring.

Last season he was such a disappointment. I thought after the whole German thing, he was gonna show them who's boss and absolutely get back to his best. Didn't happen but then there was the Leicester game and I thought he would kick on from there. Didn't happen. If only the Leicester Ozil turned up weekly.

At 350k a week fans shouldn't have to make excuses on why he's not performing well. Tbh I wouldn't mind if he turned up against the lower teams at home were a 3rd CM is not needed but he doesn't even do that. To those that say that top teams would all take Ozil, you're wrong. It's 2019 and the free role just doesn't exist anymore.

The club have also handled the situation awfully. Giving him 350k was good PR but terrible business. There would have been a meltdown among the fans (myself included) of we lost both Ozil and Sanchez for free. In hindsight it was just a terrible decision.

If Ozil could make the supposed difference between a draw and win, he'd be the bargain buy of the summer for any club. His transfer value is rock bottom so it shouldn't take much to shift him on. But we'll see. Football will talk because he will go to a better club if he's still that good.

He will not because no such beast exists

Looks like we are saddled with the same team for the coming season, since there hasn't been any movement in the market from AFC. So, hopefully, the head coach ( don't rate him much) along w/ Ljungberg, will be able to extract the best from Ozil , Mikhi and rest of the existing bunch and deliver us CL next season.
Really, all we've left is HOPE.

Lads, it's that chances created stat, which was exclusively created for Ozil again.

:arse flag.gif:

Scenes when Ozil in his worst season still leads.

Curious as to who else you think would be in contention for that?

Iwobi, Mhki, Xhaka?

Of course he's going to lead.

Who cares about other clubs. Let’s focus on arsenal. Who you gonna replace Ozil with, Iwobi?

The point.

In his worst season ever, he's still better than everyone we have in that department.

But as J.R. would say, "It's not about the money. It's not about titles; this is personal."

So is the saga between Gooners and Ozil.

Deflecting because you can't name them and don't know. Iwobi ended the season with same amount of goals (6) but 9 assists compared to the pathetic amount Ozil got. If a player of that calibre can be more effective than Ozil and actually turn up for a final, it's better tha sticking with Ozil. His magic disappearing act is getting boring.

The last 200 pages of this thread have been the same discussions over and over again.

We know the club wants him gone.
We know no other club can pay his wages, esp with his age and loss of form.

He'll be here for 2 more seasons and f**k off on a free or retire, becoming just another player that stayed too long.

The fastest to 50 assists in the Prem, whilst having the prolific Giroud, Sanogo, and Welbeck for much of his time here—yet, he gets abused like he's a rapist.

Tsk, tsk.

Tsk, tsk.

Tbh, judging by his last season Giroud inflated his assist stat by converting so many of his dead balls... He also had the best player in the league in Sanchez for a good while and also played alongside other very talented and rated (back in 2013) players like Ramsey, Wilshere, Walcott and Ox. No need to drag other players to prop up Ozil.

Also nobody is treating him like he's a rapist (i don't know what you even mean by this). He's being treated like an overpaid, lazy player who's past it because he is an overpaid, lazy player who is past it. Fan reaction is not dissimilar to Arteta in his last two seasons here, except Ozil is extra lazy and has a much higher salary.
