Is Ozil paying you or something? He's not even getting abused like he's a rapist. I'm critical of him but I know his quality on his day but his day hasn't come regularly enough. It's as if last season, he was named in the premier league team of the year and won the pfa award the way you defend him. He underperformed and is getting 350k a week so no wonder he's gonna get stick.

All of that helped him get to 350k pw, the salary of 3 players.

Now he needs to show that he's worth that, just like how Rooney needed to show why he deserved 300k pw. His 20 goal seasons, assists, league titles and CLs didn't mean jack shit if he was consistently poor on the field after signing a £15m/yr deal.

This. I love Mesut, but he had a crap season by his own standards. He enabled those standards and they demanded that wage level. Last season, he didn’t deserve those wages. Nothing against him personally. He just put up a really nice social media post. Seems a nice enough guy. We just can’t afford that salary if he can’t perform to his previous level.

We're unlikely to make any major purchases so carry on w/ Ozil, Auba, Mikhi, etc, and foot their salaries. They are all capable players, so try to get the best out of them.
All these lengthy discussions about who to blame ( Wenger, Ozil, the Owner, etc) is meaningless. The coaching staff, instead of sulking, should find a way to get the best out of this lot.
Otherwise, they'll be ditched in the midway.

Enough with the 350k per week heartburn nonsense. We know why he’s getting paid that much. It’s because the club couldn’t afford to lose Sanchez and him in the same window. When Sanchez left, his agent knew he had us by the balls. These things happen. Focus on his football instead of his bank account. Why is the manager not able to set the team up to get the best out of him? Why is the manager lacking motivational skills to get more out of Ozil? These are the questions. You lose Ozil and Emery will still have the same damn struggles.

Why do you always live in the past where Ozil is concerned, the guy is rubbish now and needs to go.

No club has a player like Ozil starting for them. You won't find a similar player at a top club that is allowed to play how he plays. The central number 10 position has almost become obsolete and the playmakers are shifting to wide positions or putting in a lot of defensive work and further away from the box.

Oh goody then our wide players can replace him. Too bad we ain’t got none. Maybe hold off on the football 2020 vision for a bit longer till we buy some wide players.

I'm still waiting for you to name the 'Ozil's' at other top clubs.

Who cares about other clubs. Let’s focus on arsenal. Who you gonna replace Ozil with, Iwobi?

Deflecting because you can't name them and don't know. Iwobi ended the season with same amount of goals (6) but 9 assists compared to the pathetic amount Ozil got. If a player of that calibre can be more effective than Ozil and actually turn up for a final, it's better tha sticking with Ozil. His magic disappearing act is getting boring.

The same stat is applied to EVERY player in the world, but but but because it is Ozil and Ozil leads it, the stat is somehow invalid

My main gripe with Ozil is that he hasn't come close to living up to his enormous wages. We can't aford to pay £300,000 per week for a player whose performances don't merit that. I think this is an uncontroversial statement.

We've had this debate before but I have never heard anyone bring that particular stat up until we signed Ozil. In fact, to this day nobody looks at that stat for any other player unless it's Ozil.
