If that's world class, Ben Arfa's runs into our box were positively Messi-like.

Ozil's goal v Napoli in 2015 is WC however.

I may be making something out of nothing but Ozil takes a look up before the sequence begins. He’s calculated exactly what he wanted to do the moment he saw Niles and pulled off a pass he had no right making :hail:

Nothing word class that man said :rofll:

Tbf, it wasn’t one of Ozil’s better games but that gif shows at the very least the level of his decision making. How many other players would have come out of that situation with a completed pass and a potential chance for a goal scoring opportunity? Were it not for a last ditch tackle as Zedie pointed out, we could have had Niles, Lacazette, Auba, and Kolasinac running at their back three. I think Wenger said it best a while back when he said that Ozil always chooses the optimal solution and that gif is a good example of what Wenger was talking about.

its a very nifty move. yes.

it was also risky as it puts us outmanned going back, so...

I'd love it if we sold Ozil and bought Banega. I'd absolutely love it.

The man has world class skill, it's hard to deny it. He does things so simply and nonchalantly that it's almost hard to notice what he did and recognize the greatness of it.

Having said that, he doesn't incorporate that into his game consistently enough. Which is why he won't be talked about in the same sentence with the all time greats of the game, and in that lies part of the reason why fans are so torn about him.

The completion of that pass was never in doubt the moment a silouhette of Niles entered his head.

Ozil’s was more difficult to do which makes his more special. The angle and weight of the pass needed to be right and he did all that with the back of his heel while both feet were off the ground at the point he made the pass. No debate to be had here ;)

and the backheel that end up in a goal is worth less trhan a backheel that leads to an oppostion odd man rush.. in OzilWorld

I don't know about that. Giroud's resulted in a goal. How did Ozil's pass end?

Girouds pass was good and deserves credit but saying it’s better than Ozil’s because it ended in a goal and Ozil’s didn’t is like saying a cutback pass by Welbeck that leads to a tap in is better than a Messi defense splitting pass that leads to nothing.

But the object is to score goals, so I would rather have a sloppy pass resulting in a goal anyday.
