Sky Sports pundit Graeme Souness said afterwards that Ozil "polarises opinion", and in the past he has been criticised for his languid approach, which has seen him brandished as lazy and lacking fight.

However, ahead of Arsenal's Super Sunday clash with Crystal Palace, Ozil told Sky Sports: "I just laugh.

Anyone with a modicum of sense knows that a) Ozil MUST play as a CAM/no 10 and he needs movement around him. See from 2:35. I disagree that he needs to work back, the days of the number 10 being free from defensive duties are NOT over Rosenior !!

About the interview.

Maybe he did have a run in with Emery, that happens a lot when the long serving top talent pushes boundaries with new managers when it comes to change.

Remember Wenger ran a very laid back ship, but I'm glad Emery dropped him, showed him who's boss but Emery also needs credit for seeing that Ozil needed to play in the no10 to get the maximum out of him and means his role suits him more defensively.

Too many managers just want you to play their way rather than looking at the player and seeing how he'll be more effective in the system rather than just trying to make a player something their not.

Think everyone would agree MÖ11, among others, had a mare.

Needed him to drop a little deeper an operate behind the lines but instead he often stood idle with his back to goal alongside Lacazette.

Not sure what was up with him today, but it looked like he lacked fitness.

I don't think Ozil had a mare, he was just quiet.

Lacazette however...

What's the weather like in Britain? Are we going to get another winter wonderland next week?

He had a few attempted assists but the whole team was flat.

Shame though because regardless of how we played, without those two gifted penalties we'd be celebrating 12 wins.

There was no intensity at all today though from anyone, real shame.

We need more from our 2nd string to play a lot more minutes in the Europa etc.

Ozil was really poor but he still put it on the platter for Bellerín. That's what he does.

Overall, this might be one of his worst performances. He was all over the place and not in a good way.
