Because this isn't RAWK, mods don't silence people just because they have an outlandish opinion.

It's not a coincidence that we do badly against good opposition with Özil as playmaker. Not a f***ing coincidence.
Nothing personal against the guy at all.
Remove him in big games and you'll see us do better. I guarantee you that.

So it was Ozil's fault our defence went missing for 10mins against Utd?

It was Ozil's fault our chances all hit the post etc etc and DeGea had a great game?

Was Spurs not a big game?

You say you know football but I'm beginning to wonder, if your commenting on us setting up like we did against Chelsea then that's the managers call, not Ozil's.

Also Wenger was damned if he did damned if he don't, if he had sat Ozil out to park the bus and he lost 3-1 he'd of been crucified.

Ozil put in a solid performance against United. Credit where it's due.

Not his fault for individual mistakes obviously, but it's more complicated than that.
The way we are set up when he's our playmaker makes our back 4 (3) more vulnerable against good opposition.
Xhaka beeing in there doesn't help either.

I can see Ozil and Sanchez leaving now.
And if Lacazette turns up trumps it will be the same with him in time.
Club has no ambition.

Just to show the argument that Ozil is the reason for our failures against the top teams - or that he is even a contributor - I looked back at results against the top 6, Man City, Man United, Liverpool, Chelsea and Spurs. I went back to the 2007/08 season and finished with last season. I chose 2007 as the starting point because that was the season after Henry left Arsenal.

In the 6 seasons BEFORE Ozil joined Arsenal our record against the top 6 in the league was:
Played 60
Won 20
Lost 23
Drew 17.

We lost 38% of the games we played.

In the 4 full seasons that we have had Ozil:
Played 40
Won 9
Lost 15
Drew 16

We lost 37% of the games we played.

I hope my maths is correct (someone please confirm). If so 2 things "could" be taken from these figures. The first is that we lost pretty much the same amount of games BEFORE Ozil joined us anyway, so this proves he alone is not the reason why we lose so many games against the top 6. The second is that, we have lost marginally (by 1%) less games with Ozil at the club.

Either way, both points mean the chap who suggested it is chatting BOLLOX ... as usual :rofll:

Right ......... but again your never in the Mustafi, Kos or Xhaka thread, your always in here dissing our most talented midfielder which is why you get so much blow back.

For the record if your saying Ozil makes our midfield and defense weak, that's a lot of areas of our game to pin on one man don't you think?

Even if Ozil is a little light because he's heavy on offence / creativity then surely a good manager would cover and protect that talent with those around him to do the donkey work?

Fact is we play with a back 5 and two CM's, maybe you should be asking what Bellerin our RWB, our RCB (Kos) and the midfield two are doing? or do you think every wide offensive player in the league busts a gut like Sanchez? because I can assure you Sanchez is a rarity.

Your basically asking us to trade a Welbeck for an Ozil ...............

On top of that the reason Ozil is a bit of a liability wide is because really he's a CAM, he's supposed to sit in front of two midfielders who anchor for him, he was great for us when Wenger played him centrally.

............ again though playing a back 5 is more than enough to cover for a wide Ozil.

Maybe look at the players who's job it actually is to defend?

Pre-Ozil:-
Played:60
Points: 77
Normalized to 40 games: 51

Post-Ozil:
Played: 40
Points:43

Doesn't prove your point, but you chose 2007, choose after Cesc betrayed us
