For example Martino only managed Barcelona for one season, a season in which Barcelona's squad was infested with long-term (impact) injuries affecting multiple key players.

Messi tore a muscle, not much later did his hammy. Pique picked up a bad hip injury and Puyol's knee giving in causing him to be out for months. Valdes picking up a calf injury, then tearing his ligaments, forcing Martino to play an inferior keeper in Pinto, etc.

Would be naive to think this unusually large accumulation of injuries to key players didn't affect Barcelona's 2013-14 results to a considerable degree.
