PLayed really well in the 2nd half.
We must play him centrally.
He and Martinelli should be pre printed on all the team sheets.

GTFO with that sensible nonsense. Don't you know, the Prophet that is Elkopubber thinks Ozil was the worst player on the pitch and on the bench?

OPTA had Ozil at 6:41 - that ranked him tenth out of our starting eleven ... bit harsh but in the first half he was simply invisible ... between the 11th and 33rd minute he complete just 1 pass ... in all just 14 completed passes in the first 45 minutes. In the second half 47 completed passes so a massive improvement, something just seemed to "switch on" ...

Total completed passes by our midfield three:

Torreira 74
Xhaka 70
Ozil 61

In the second half we saw what Ozil can do and how he should be played. On the break, receiving the ball with their team retreating, he breaks through the lines and plays the perfect pass to our forwards/attackers.

THAT is how you play Ozil, that is how you get the best out of him, that is what looks to be how you get the best out of our forwards too, not this mundane predictable and slow pass, pass, pass bollox.

It takes two ... West Ham are shite, they decided that marking Ozil was not necessary indeed they pretty much gave up marking any of our attacking players. Credit to Ozil given time and space he showed his quality. Credit also to our back eight who for once stayed in shape and allowed the front three to do there thing.

Good for us and with luck a turning point ... as for West Ham let's hope they go down ... that's three goals conceded at home in each of their last three games at the running track ... relegation form in a big way

Ozil had a poor first half. Second half was excellent. Massive part of the 2nd and 3rd goal really. Still need him in the team week in week out.

He's on the downside of his career obviously but still our best option at CAM. We do however need to be looking for a replacement soon if not now.

The problem is our midfield 2 behind Ozil not getting the ball out sooner. They dither on the ball with sideways and backwards passing. The best way to increase Ozil's influence on the game is when the ball is realised quickly out to the wings or centrally and bring Ozil into action. We are so concerned about conceding that we almost always are slow to build up from the back to the point where either Ozil has to drop deep to get the ball or he's being closed down by multiple defenders.

But still I felt in the second half he was very effective.

The team had a poor first half ! Why single out Ozil. Once we began moving the ball forward quicker there was space for Ozil to run between the lines with the ball, he was then able to pick forward passes to our front 3. My argument has always been, play to the player's strengths. Passing the ball sideways for 5 mins before going forwards makes the team impotent! when we burst forward at pace we look full of sperm !!

the snails pace attack doesn't help ozil out at all. he's shown his class when we play with pace and get forward quickly, or at least move the ball with pace.

he sees passing lanes that most of our squad can't. but the slower we play those lanes dry up and we suck.
cheers!

What are you on about?
Our issues are not an Ozil vs the manager debate.
If you think we're shit this season because of Ozil, you really have not been paying attention.
