Santi wrote:Always quite liked Danny tbh, proper shit finisher but he's alright and good character in the squad from what it seems. Nowhere near as bad of a backup as people make out, he's never been a striker so if that was the ask then it was a stupid one by the club really.

Plus it's f***ing hilarious when he scores.

You have a point tbf. Always warmed to him as an individual. Problem is "the ask" was for him to be a striker at times and he is a mess of an attacking footballer. Loudest cheers in my house whenever he scored but feel he's better suited elsewhere, particularly if he's in line for a wage raise.

Can't believe how much he was holding the club back.

Kept the title race alive against Leicester after nearly a year out when Giroud went on holiday for 20+ games without a goal, played and instrumental part in our last two FA cup wins and our run in the Europa league last season, versatile always puts in a shift and never complains about game time but yeah clearly he's been the one holding us back all these years can't wait till we sell him and sign Neymar to be his replacement on the bench.

Can't wait until this dogshit player is finally gone, who his replacement him is irrelevant.

As long as we shift this piece of shit I won't care if we don't sign anyone, him leaving makes the team better automatically.

Yup. Low skilled footballers like him have no place on a team like Arsenal that should be competing for titles.

I would rather play Perez and Nketiah at backup role, both of whom are more skilled.

As others have said, if Wenger, the delusional fool, was here he would have given him another contract.

Thank god Unai and the new folks at Arsenal know how much Welbeck sucks. One of the worst footballers I have watched in an Arsenal jersey.

Good riddance and lol @ Everton.

Wasn't he signed at the last minute when we couldn't get Gonzalo Higuain?

It's like heading out for a meal at Gordon Ramsey's and ending up in Pizza Go Go.

He was signed over the winter when it was clear we needed a striker.

Wenger panicked and bought MU's trash and then for years justified him as the reason we have enough striking power and dont need to buy.

Unsurprisingly, he has been proven wrong. It's decisions like those that kept sinking Arsenal.

It is telling though isn't it?

What top 4 squad has a striker that can't be sold for anymore than £15m and a CM in Wilshere who couldn't get anywhere better than West Ham ......... that one even I'm baffled about, I would of at least thought Everton or the like were Wilshere's level but West Ham??

How has it been that we've been so stupidly loyal all this time that we've accepted this?

These player sales are the true reflection of their market worth whether we like it or not and these guys were our 1st eleven ......... so when we look back are we really surprised RVP, Sanchez, Nasri, Adebayor and co all left citing lack of ambition?

Thankfully its a new day, i'd invite you all to join me in upping our standards back to expected levels.

West Ham aren't far off Everton on their day tbh, plus it was his boyhood and family club.

Also Liverpool are top 4 and wouldn't get 15m for Danny Ings. Nor would Chelsea get 15m anymore for Pedro.

It's like having a mad old grandad who tells you for years that his ornaments are worth a fortune

He dies and you get a valuer round to look at them. He politely informs you that they're a load of old tat

And then you have to spend £9 Million on burying the silly old t**t and you still have to pay the valuer

Pretty accurate, Wilshere was only ever worth a lot in sentimental value.

Times were difficult for us as the deadline day approached in 2014. Giroud had been injured and, since we hadn't prepared for such a possibility, we faced having to rely on Sanogo as our only striker for a couple of months.

It's pretty obvious why we needed somebody - anybody - who could fill in for Giroud for a while. Thus, Welbeck became our lad. He was never going to be a goal poacher. He was never going to be even on Giroud's level. He was always going to be a back up option.

Now that we have Aubameyang and Lacazette, we should thank Welbeck for his services and move him on.

Welbeck was bought as Giroud's backup. As such he should have been out the door when we bought Perez in 2016 and again when we bought Laca in 2017 or Auba in 2018.
