Such a shame and so sad what's happened to him. Think it might be time to hang up his boots.

He should retire now or have a last gasp attempt in MLS to boost the retirement package. Its over for him here, but he'll always be one to remember.

I highly doubt that he will be playing before end of this season, so we shouldn't be renewing his contract as a player (we shouldn't have done it last year neither). It's the end unfortunately.

Seriously though, not sure why we haven't moved on from him yet. We should have had his replacement in a long time ago.

And if Santi does somehow play for us again he should be competing for his starting spot back; not have it gift wrapped

Because when he does eventually come back when he's 50 ........ he'll be like a new signing. :arse flag.gif:

a) How do you move on a player who's injured and contracted to you?
b) Is it ethically right to release a player who got injured so badly playing for you? Selling him after he's fit, or releasing him once his contract is over is one thing, but actively releasing him?
c) Last time, I checked, Cazorla is the only good midfielder we have. We haven't bought the sort of player who should play next to him, and haven't bought him since Vieira left, let alone replace Santi

When I say move on, I mean not relying on him as the first CM on the team sheet. I would have had no problems were he second choice to another CM. Squad is God as they say

True, but we haven't even replaced the DM supposed to be next to him who retired 10 years ago. Technically, we never replaced Cesc, Santi was a lucky gamble

So that's two overdue positions that needs to be addressed within the next two windows. Better late than never as they also say

Actually, we have replaced Cazorla. With whom you ask? Granit Xhaka.

Think Wilshere is the more naturally gifted / stature wise replacement.

Xhaka and the possible N'zonzi are for more presence ........ which Xhaka is failing at currently.

Other than Luc Nilis, I haven't either.
