Chambers is going up for sale along with Pablo Mari this window.

Well realistically only one can be sold as selling both would only leave us with 3 centre backs, unless Arteta plans on recalling Mavropanos/Saliba

Mari is contracted until 2024, which means he has better resale value as Chambers is out of contract at the end of the season

Also Chambers is a better player and more versatile, homegrown status, if we are keeping one of them for the rest of the season Chambers has way more pros than Mari

Just going off the reports saying we're looking to sell both Mari and Chambers. It may explain why we're reluctant to sell Cedric if true. Can always shift Tomiyasu to cover CB if necessary.

In that he appears to have rediscovered that little patch of good form he produced last season that was abruptly brought to a halt when switched to the left in order to deputise for KT, the most encouraging thing that could be said regards Soares is that the massive drop off in quality that was plainly visibly upon him substituting for Tomiyasu, is no longer as evident as it was that day.

Whilst I am unaware of even one comment suggesting preference for Soares over Tomiyasu, it's a massive compliment to him that the functionality and stability of the back four as established this season, has remained pretty much intact in the absence of our ninja warrior these past couple of games.

He's been OK at RB but honestly, he's a step down from Bellerin, and even Chambers was better defensively. I don't know why we needed to tie him down till he's 32.

Exactly

We have played Norwich, Burnley and Wolves twice, hardly sterling opposition.

As it should be for all members of our squad, acknowledgement and credit when and where it is due. Soares completed the job he was tasked with successfully in being part of a winning team having completely exhausted it's energy levels at full time.

He was doing well initially when he came in to replace Tomi but then his form dropped off hard. Those pathetic FKs against Palace will haunt me.

A bit like being the third leg runner in the 4 X 100m sprint relay Olympics final, when the only job you have to do is deliver the baton to Usain Bolt with the team at least competitively placed in the race.

That is how I kinda see what Cedric Soares has effectively done in being an able bodied reserve in an emergency that just about managed a job well done in the absence of Tomiyasu.

However, now that our Yakuza enforcer is back, his stint is over but shouldn't go unappreciated.

We pushed out both Niles/Chambers who are actually solid defensively and now it’s cost us.

Cedric is even more of a liability at LB meaning tomiyasu has to play out of position, if AMN was here, he’d comfortably slot in at LB and Tomiyasu could have handled Son at RB
