He was very good until last season. With 29 he's not that old especially for a CB.

I hope Emerys can turn his form around.

If he doesn't improve, our defence will be screwed once again next season.
Mustafi and Papa (on current form) will be a shithousery.

People would have blamed Wenger all the time if he was the one who signed him.

Luckily he is out of club so dont have to deal with the bullshit from fans.

Why we signed him I'll never know. Rather get Squillaci back.

I wouldn't read too much into it.

I think he may end up as back up but we'll have to see, the Prem is going to really highlight whether or not he can make it.

Regardless out of 6 signings Misinslat has made 1 bad signing isn't a bad return.

Yeah think we cheaped out on this one to fit the budget, maybe we'll buy one in January because whatever weaknesses we have moving forward will be the next area to fill.

Remember we're living in the times when top CB's are going for prices almost as much as a striker, which is mental but there it is.

He has not looked great so far. Still, if he manages to push Holding, Chambers and Mustafi up a level and helps Mavropanos develop, it's money well spent.

Slow like Mertesacker with what seems like less positional awareness so far.

Judging from what I've seen, I wouldn't say that the criticism levelled at his performances were without justification.

However, the mitigating factor that seems to have been overlooked is that he was been on the left side of our centre back pairing instead of the right hand side he's accustomed to.

This is probably due to the fact that Emery already knows that Mustafi struggled there massively when Koschielny got injured, so both parties seem happy to avoid that again.

If Mustafi is staying then Sokratis will have to adapt to this quickly as I think only Mavropanos has looked comfortable playing left centre back. Chambers and Holding both look better on the right too, although I recollect that when Chambers found a bit of form last season he played some of those games there.

Sokratis's no nonsense warrior style of play contains that bit of bite, aggression and steel we have craved to be injected into our defense for what seems like forever.

It might be a good idea to let him at least have played a run of games in his normal position before getting the grave digging shovels out.

Looking forward to him playing.

Wanted him before he went Dortmund so glad we finally have him. He was very good for them and hoping he is likewise here

Good full debut and much better than what we saw in preseason, hope he keeps it up because that was probably his toughest test.

Yes I was surprised actually, looked ok, battled for the ball and won it a few times, kept the shape well and was not at fault directly for any goals.
