I'm hearing that he's injured, apparently nothing too serious beyond an ankle sprain but having endured the sad sagas of Diaby, Wilshire and Cazorla, fearing the worst is almost my default setting when it comes to injuries.

I don't think that there would be many arguing that Papa has not been our best defender full stop, but thank god that Emery had the foresight to play Mustafi and Holding when he could have persisted with the Greek knowing that he has been our standout defender.

If the sprain is such that Papa is not going to be available for Leicester, at least we won't be going into it anxious as hell about Mussy and Rob being thrown together as an unknown variable or have greater concern beyond the existing when the German is playing.

Holding has hardly put a foot wrong this season and against Fulham Mustafi was almost unrecognisable, and to me, Papa has been the catalyst for this. And to think some were writing him off before the season even started.

Just noticed he was on the bench.

How on earth did he not start alongside Holding?

Can't think of any excusable reason other than that might not have been fully fit because of his recent ankle injury.

Did Emery specify a reason on as to why Sokratis was benched in favor of Mustafi?

He didn't specify but it is almost definitely fitness. He played 90 on Thursday which was just 3 days ago.

Don't get why he didn't start today.

Really miss his presence in the box when it comes to attacking and defending set pieces.

Had a few dodgy moments when he was up against King, and pulled a couple of Bournemouth attackers' shirts, but no-one can match him for physicality and aggression. Callum Wilson barely had a sniff, as well.

Out paced Kane at one point. I was pleasantly surprised. Not that Kane was ever a blazer, but still.
