That I am struggling to recollect the last time AMN played right back is a little bit concerning to me (no not health wise), tempered only by the fact that sometimes he has instead been played from the left due to Tierney filling in at LCB or not being available.
Gaining international recognition is a great indicator of having produced notable performances for your club, but football history is absolutely littered with players who achieved a handful of caps but never a significant role within the team.
If AMN is still only considered to be secondary to Bellerin for the right back position by Arteta, then we have a similar situation to that of Martinez and likewise he should have left and gone to Wolverhampton to better develop his career.
Again I don't recall the specific game or even the opposition right now, but the link up play and overall performance he produced in tandem with Pepe down the right was akin to warm bright sunshine suddenly bursting through at the end of a storm.
The footballing God's seem to love pulling our plonkers just for the hell of it epitomised by the whole covid-19 situation with KT, and as such yes, Ainsley is probably the best option down the left in place of the Scotsman ahead of either Kolasinac or Saka.
However, if we were playing the 4-3-3 our manager is trying to transition us to, I'd still rather see him developing the partnership with Pepe down the right and instead have Xhaka fill in at left back against City now that we have Thomas Partey in midfield.
Last time maitland niles played at right back was Watford at home on the final day of the season
I believe it’s the 2-0 home win v Man Utd last season you are referring to when maitland niles and Pepe were both very good on the right

I wouldn't like to make a choice though, neither leave me thrilled at the prospect if I am honest.

We as club need to stop falling for these "Just about to sign a new contract" heroics.
Any player can give a 100% when he knows shortly they'll be something to gain and then switch off.
I dissed AMN for years, then backed his rise, now he's given us this as a repayment, should of took the money and ran.

What foolishness are you talking, he hasn't played. Cause our prefers his boyfriend Hector. Who AMN proved he is better then
