Interesting, he was the one that losted the ball that leaded the first Chelsea goal (assisted by Emerson, the man he was supposed to cover). he fouled giroud giving them the penalty. All the goals started by his zone. He basically failed to defend his side the whole match

Again I must remind people, AMN is not a wing back or full back, he is not a defender. He is a midfielder that has been asked to fill in at RB.

His passing is not good enough to play Midfield for us. AMN natural position is a winger.

Does anyone actually rate Maitland-Niles as anything more than a squad/utility player?
Almost every tackle is a recovery tackle, position play not the best.

Yup, he himself claims to be a winger. No, he is not squad quality. If we go back to when we had Denilson et al, the squad players back then were not good enough, AMN is the same as all of those young kids Wenger promoted and none of them were good enough.

We need levels up from that.

Ifva player is good enough to be squad player....surely he is good enough for a PL career at smaller club? How many of the youngbplayers we produced has made a pl career somrwhere else? Most of the hyped ones end up in lower leagues as will hr

He may have been the only Englishman on the pitch but that was one to many. AMN was no worse than a lot of Arsenal players last night, but he very clearly is not and never will be a top EPL player. Sometimes we just have to say enough is enough ....

Bit harsh to call it a 15 year Arsenal career when the first 10 of them he was age 6 to 16
Sammy Nelson spent 15 years at the club winning the fa cup in 1979 and had played 11 games for Arsenal at the age maitland niles is now

In football terms he is not a youngster and he performed poorly thsi year.
Not good enough unless we're happy with the level we are now.

Why do they have under 21,s then
Personally I don't care if they are toddlers or pensioners
They should only play if good enough

He is too slow for full back, and he does not have the wisdom and experience like Monreal.

We don't have a choice but to play him at RB. it's him or Jenkinson. Bellerin isn't coming back for a while and he we won't be the same player when he does.

I am not gonna diss AMN for that, he is not a RB and should not be played as such. Its just pure fuckry from Emery and may very well strip AMN of his confidence.

Exact same thing Wenger did to Eboue!!

Surely the under 21s RB who plays the role every week has to be a better option than AMN. This is pure stupidity from Emery.

I agree with this, AMN is not up to the task and will continue to have brain-farts that will cost us.

If he was hed be starting. Just like jenkinson. Maybe they're just not good enough and we need a better back up RB.

You dont want to spend money or haven't got the patience to train a player in that position you've made your own problem.

Blaming Emery for having to play AMN because theres no one else to step in and be good enough at RB etc. Is ridiculous. Is this teenage RB going to be good enough to deal with the Prems elite Left wingers?

This type of situation is exactly what I've been talking about and exactly what you've been arguing for lol

Zedie if there is a RB in the U21s and he isn't better than AMN in the role you better sack the entire recruitment and development team because they are f***ing shit!!

There must be one, the manager is just being a div.
