How long is left on his contract? He is still very young(22) loan him out see if he gets any better playing everywee...ohh he does that already. But in all honesty if we loan him out in Germany or some week league let him play and hopefully learn to shoot might work out and we can bring him back or sell him.

2022 according to transfermarkt

Give him to Ajax for a season.

This is a lie. Theo was universally lambasted fir his poor finoshing ability. The same goes for his first touch and dribbling skills, this that Iwobi is MUCH better at. It is nothing but revisionism to say anything else.

Unless one of Neres/Ziyech would be sold, Alex wouldn't get near their starting XI.

Even Neres fell out of favor earlier this season and it wasn't until Tadic started playing as a false nine that he broke back into Ajax's first XI.

I wouldn't say universally. Theo had some fans. I had time for Theo and always maintained that Wenger shafted his development by playing him on the wing for so long and then allocating a 'wide forward' role for him where doesn't get involved in the build up play and remained anonymous for most games if not scoring. Similar to what we've seen of Aubameyang on the wing when struggling.

Iwobi has the wing play that Theo lacks. The link up play, strength and dribbling but lacks the end product. I think Emery is missing trick by playing him wide all the time. Especially in games where he's having to play Guendouzi and Elneny. He should try and develop Iwobi as a CM/AM since he can't finish.

what a conundrum theo was.....started out his career with so much promise then never really lived up to it, and then went to crap.

iwobi is a different player for me. I think his technical ability is better than Theo's, but Walcott had a better end product (not great, but he scored). I've never been a fan of iwobi, but I cannot deny that he's had a fairly decent season and I've seen improvement. still a frustrating player to watch but he's had more of an impact on games this season and as people have mentioned.....we aren't in a position not to utilize him.

in the end, he'd be more of a squad player if we could bring in a winger or two that had more of an end product. if not, then he'll remain on emery's team sheet and most likely as a starter.

This is a lie. Theo was universally lambasted fir his poor finoshing ability. The same goes for his first touch and dribbling skills, this that Iwobi is MUCH better at. It is nothing but revisionism to say anything else.

Lets see shall we. All comps figures below.

Walcott (Arsenal first team aged 16)
2006/7 - 1414 mins. 1 goal, 5 assists.
2007/8 - 2101 mins. 7 goals, 6 assists.
2008/9 - 2217 mins. 6 goals, 4 assists.

Iwobi (Arsenal first team aged 19)
2015/16 - 1123 mins. 2 goals, 3 assists.
2016/17 - 2264 mins. 4 goals, 8 assists.
2017/18 - 2578 mins. 3 goals, 7 assists.
2018/19 - 2597 mins. 5 goals, 7 assists.

So in Theo's second season, he was 17 years old, he scored more goals than Iwobi has scored in any season with Arsenal. Iwobi is currently 22 and has more minutes on the pitch than Theo bar one season - when Theo was 16 ! Conclusive proof that Theo has always been a better finisher and has a better shot than Iwobi. Nobody was taking about dribbling or first touch.

Imagine thinking that argument is even remotely 'conclusive proof'

That's like saying Theo is a better finisher than Guendouzi because he scored more goals.

I wouldn't even say his finishing was universally criticised. You can't speak for everyone.

For me, Theo's finishing always came down to form and how often he's playing. Considering his limited dribbling ability and technique compared to other Arsenal players, I always thought he was decent at scoring.

Mate, I made 2 statements, the first was that Theo was always a decent finisher. We if you look at his stats from 17 years old and onwards it was indeed decent, not amazing, just decent like I stated.

The second statement was that Theo was a better finisher and had better shooting tekkers at 16 than Iwobi does now aged 22. Ok, the stats actually confirm that it was from 17, not 16. Its not even a frikkin argument and its not open to interpretation, Theo scored more goals consistently than Iwobi - playing less minutes. They both play in offensive positions. Iwobi's shooting and finishing is terrible and is worse than a 17 year old Theo's

I think if you played a one legged blind bloke up front he'd score more than Iwobi.

Pudpod, to add to my previous response, an Iwobi/Walcott comparison is at least pretty accurate. A Guendouzi/Walcott comparison makes no sense. Iwobi and Walcott are attackers. Lets also not forget that Walcott was played solely as a winger not a forward, during the first half of his Arsenal career. So the comparison with Iwobi is spot on.

Frustrating player. You can see that he enjoys playing for Arsenal and respects the club, but ability-wise, he makes me miss Welbeck, which I thought was impossible. Most damning thing I can say about Iwobi is that Welbz can come back after a year injured, and look more comfortable dribbling and shooting than he can.

It's worth looking up the goal scoring stats for Hleb, Rosicky, Nasri and Cazorla when played on the wing. They weren't scoring that many and weren't that far off from the numbers Iwobi's currently getting.

I think the thing with Iwobi is that he finds himself in good scoring positions so I guess if he brushes up on his shooting technique he'd be up there. But Iwobi and Walcott serve different functions within the team despite playing wide and I'd compare his function and style a lot closer to the above players I mentioned.
