i think everyone went severely overboard with the criticism of him to begin with tbh, hes literally just turned 22, hes done more than deserve a chance for me

I think the flaws of Iwobi's game are related to the way he thinks on the pitch, which are incredibly hard to correct.

Was going to say the same. Could be a mental thing with him, which is usually what separates the great players from the average.

I dont agree

i think his iq in the final third is really high for someone his age in terms of passing into the box etc

we'll just have to see if emery can sort him out

Think he would be mainly in for Caribo cup and early EFL games. He will be sorted out quickly.

He's way worse than Auba, Laca, Mkhi, Özil, Ramsey and not better than Perez or even Lord Welbeck.

If his contract is extended so that he can be loaned out, I would understand. But keeping him? He would only get some odd league cup or EL games. Better for him and us, if he played a season elsewhere.
1. He's much better than Welbeck
2. He's homegrown and from our academy
3. Not every players needs to be a first team regular.

Gibbs might not have been the greatest arsenal player of his generation but he cost us nothing and got a job done as a squaddie.

Also, I don't think I need to point out how much Ramsey has improved in the last 6 years since he was Iwobi's age. And Iwobi has shown just as much talent as Ramsey did back then.

Nothing against a good squad player, who gets the odd game now or then, but how would that help Iwobi to improve? Specially at 22, he's at an age in which he should play more regular. I don't think we should offer him that. He has too many flaws.
Let him improve on a loan elsewhere and then return to us, if he got better imo.
Keeping him won't help to know if he's gonna make it or not.

Completely agree that a loan would be best for him buddy, doesn't mean we shouldn't extend his deal first though and hope he comes good. He needs to either get games here under Emery or go elsewhere with a strict manager and learn from his mistakes.

He's had it too easy, got too cocky and needs a real season where he buckles down and works hard, whether here or elsewhere.

Completely in favour of his new deal though.

Arsenal have reportedly agreed a five-year deal with Alex Iwobi worth £60k-per-week to the midfielder.
:dizzy: I hope he proves the boss right, it will be interesting times ahead for Iwobi, not my fav I must admit.

Happy about this. The guy's frustrating but he's young and talented. He's just been low on confidence which clouds his decision making. Deserves a chance under Emery who should address this issue. Got high hopes for him.

The most annoying thing is we pushed out the likes of Walcott, Perez, Gnabry and soon to be Campbell in favour of Iwobi who hasn't done anything good aside from one good game against Chelsea, basically the new Wilshere.

Arguably our best player after Matteo so far?

Deserved assist, despite it being a deflection

Defo. His chance was the hardest tbf. Came at massive pace and knee height. That's hard for most to handle.

He should have hit it with less power though, he didn't need to try destroy the ball...
