I still think leadership is the most important quality for captains in English football, especially when you have a young team. Does anyone really see Odegaard as a leader on the pitch? Leading by example alone isn't what I am talking about, its geeing players up, its giving players a rollicking, its lifting heads when they go down, its leading by example.

I don't, but it won't matter when we're lifting the PL trophy. :arse flag.gif:

Frankly, I don't see any of our current players have Vieira or Adams' quality.

crimson11 are you saying you think our club is JUST average these days?

( I dont think the are world beaters, but i think there is a resurgence of sorts in the offing)

or you saying you dont see someone who commands a certain respect as CAPT?

I think certain old schoolisms about CAPTs are kinda dated myself, though i DO get it.

We need him to focus on creating chances and moving the ball to the attacker quickly. Being captain kills everybody's performance level. Only Xhaka seems immune

The latter. I prefer someone who’s more vocal and cutthroat

I’m not a big fan of these new stats, they make players look better than they are, he got 4 assists last season but the above makes him look like one of the most creative and best midfielders in the PL.

There’s just no context to the chances created stat.

If Ø played behind a striker who managed more than 2 league goals from open play in 30 appearances in an entire season, he'd probably have racked up way more than 4 assists.

Zenith, what are you doing?? Those stats were brought in specifically to make Ozil look good and we all know that Chances Created was a metric created by Ozil's family

Waiting for people to chime in with, what kind of chances were they, I bet they were shit chances, name the chances because I don't remember them.

These stupid stats are for pandering to the Fantasy PL audience playing out their StatDNA dreams. Absolutely no real-world relevance to whether a player is good or not, because the teams don't change each week like they do in FPL.
