I've never rated Chambers, but I think it was the Fulham match when he took the game to Fulham attacking wise. He featured more than Aubu, but now we know that Aubu was ill. He was energetic going forward and cause problelms for their defence.

Everton could make a £5m move for Calum Chambers, 26, in January if they can't resurrect a loan agreement for fellow Arsenal defender Ainsley Maitland-Niles, 24. (Sun)

Without needing to get too deep or analytical, I'm inclined to think that Chambers' route to achieving a spot within the first team starting XI was effectively shut down permanently bar significant loss of form or injuries upon the recruitment of both Benny Blanco from the Bronx and the Shogun Rock on Tomiy.

In light of his age and contract situation, I would gauge that the time has arrived for him to seek pastures new and progress his career further by playing as a regular starter for a team as opposed to effectively stagnating as a bit part occasional player who has one eye fixed on the physiotherapist' door whilst secretly hoping to hear the odd yelp of pain.

He’s a better centre back than Holding and Mari

Maybe he is, maybe he isn't. My own opinion is that with regards to the three, Holding has failed to achieve what Gabriel Magalhaes and Benjamin White have done the longest followed by Chambers, whilst Mari has also accrued the least amount of performances from the trio that have failed to meet the standard demanded by the EPL in order to achieve any degree of success.

As I have referenced previously, the recruitment of Benny Blanco effectively sounded the death knell of Chambers arsenal career bar for some Twilight Zone style turnaround in fortune and levels of performance from the likeable Englishman.

To me, a defensive roster consisting of Magalhaes, White, Saliba, Mavropanos and Mari instills me with more optimism regards achieving success than that of Magalhaes, White, Holding, Chambers and Mari.

This.

And he sucks as a defender.

Never forgive the missed header that led to the Crouch goal.

From thence , he was Calumny to me.

No way this guy deserves to be behind Cedric.

27, English and can play RB, CB, DM ... worth keeping considering we won't get more than £5m for him

Agreed. Not sure if he's willing to extend his contract, but despite not having played in months he's done very well tonight.

Could tell within 5mins he was a better defender than Cedric.

There's half a good player in Chambers, I don't know why he gets overlooked so much.

With regular game time he could begin to shine.

Significantly better than Cedric and can back up multiple positions.

I thought he had a pretty good run in the team last year at RB. I can't remember if it was an injury or rotation but Cedric suddenly went ahead of him despite a string of average performances.

Always been a good player and better than the likes of Holding/Mari it’s just one of those situations where Arteta has his favourites as usual.

If I were Newcastle I’d be signing Chambers exactly the type of player they could use with his versatility, with his contracting running out at the end of the season he’ll be really cheap
