I think it was rather that Özil & Cazorla were poor throughout the entire match, but it simply showed more in the 2nd half because Villa stepped up and played better.

Cazorla needs to get dropped for a game or two, his recent form has been very poor and Özil, meh, wasn't great today but atleast he didn't keep giving away the ball like Jack & Santi.

I agree with Gooney to be fair. We need to start killing teams off instead of coasting when we are winning by a small margin. It has not cost us yet this season but it will catch up with us eventually if we don't pull our socks up and actually put teams to the sword. We deperately need a top class striker to get goals out of nothing then you will see the 5 - 6 - 7 nills coming into play.

Also I don't know if any body has notice but i know Cazorla has not reached top form yet, but is form drops even further when him and Ozil are on the field.

We don't seem to have much confidence to start games unless we get our passing rhythm going or score a goal. Then when we get a goal or two up we get more confident, but then seem to let up a bit. I'm sure many teams don't keep up the same level of intensity the whole game, but we need to keep up that confidence and intensity for the majority of it.

I think the first 20 mins of our games are pointless :rofll: We dont start quick at all and nothing happens in the first 20

Goal difference may decide the title again this year, it is something we should bear in mind. If we have the energy to spare then go for it.

Missed this game, but when I've seen us lose control of games this season, it's not down to the type of complacency we used to be guilty of, i.e. arrogantly wasting opportunities because we knew how amazing were, and we knew other chances would come. It seems more like we don't have the confidence to go all out.

man city will have the goal difference in the bag and we dont have the same firepower as them so we can forget that one
what we can do though is get more points than them as we have done thus far

City will probably be the main contender but I am not counting Chelsea out, it could be down to us and them with City a point or two behind.

I listened to the match on Five Live, and by listening to the commentary Giroud had the chance to kill the game off by making it 3-0 in the second half by a simple toe poke into the goal, but ended up in the side netting.

This is just one example of the many scoreable goals Giroud has missed so far this season when the opportunity has been presented to him, and why we desperately need to sign an out and out high percentage goal machine in the January window, because it could come down to goal difference at the end of the season.

No.

It was pushed back to him by gibbs, he had to hit it first time, with loads of people in the box, q defender practically on top of him from the right and one in front of him that he had to bend the ball round. Keeper was also covering.

It was probably Massa commentating:

"WTF.....NO. Bendtner would have scored that. Sign Costa NOOOOOOOOOOOW"

Sorry, but I can only comment on what I hear by the commentator (can't afford Sky down here in Cornwall to watch the game) but you have to agree that we desperately need to sign an out and out high percentage goal machine in the January window, because it could come down to goal difference at the end of the season.

I think goal difference will decide it, but it will be between Arsenal and Chelsea. City will finish 3rd by a point.

I thought confidence was a big issue in the Villa game until we scored. Then we played great for 10 minutes. 2nd half was back to the first 35 minutes of the first half, confidence went down again.

I have to agree that the effort and performance of some of the players was lacking. However, I think that a large part of what we as fans view as complacency, or an unwillingness to go for the killer final goal is tactical. We've been doing it all this season and the second half of last season. When we go up, we make defensive subs, our offense rests a bit and the defense kills teams off.

There will be people that say that this will catch up to us...Guess what has caught up with us in the past...going for goals that we don't need to win the game. We have only paid for the defensive tactics against Everton this year, and it's served us VERY well in many many games.

After we went up 2-0, I picked up my laptop and surfed the internet while watching because we are no longer a team that gives up leads. Yes, we coasted the rest of the game, but that's what most championship teams will call a "professional" performance (resting players, even those on the pitch).

This is what title winning seasons are like though. You go through spells where games are a bit dull and you aren't playing well but you still manage to pick up points. At least we haven't peaked to early as in the past. If we can carry on playing like this and picking up points then great!
