They are looking for an efficient system where young players will be developed and sold on for value. The best that will be asked of a manager is to keep us 4-5 so we make some Europe money while buying 21-25 year olds and selling them at profit 2-3 years later.

This is a fool's errand and not possible in the EPL anymore. You can't get Top 4 playing kids like Wenger did 10-12 years ago. The only club that does this now is Dortmund, reliably 2nd best in a 1-team league.

Agreed, that won't work now if we want to get and stay in the top 4. The outlook must be to win or we will get swallowed up by hungrier teams behind us. Newcastle will be gunning for top 4 as will Everton and West Ham. If we snooze we will lose.

Aint nobody got time to be developing kids, they need to be ready to contribute when they get to the first team.

Good outing?

1 - We do this every year
2 - It means nothing till points are at stake

Anyone who takes too much from pre-season friendlies is a moron quite frankly (not saying you are ag6) we had a good pre-season last year and got hammered by Brentford on our first prem game.

The only thing I've taken from these games is that Jesus looks like he's going to be handful at CF, which is good news for us, I've noticed him charging toward the line if he's blocked off from goal like a winger in the box, its good because its aggressive and causes mayhem in front of goal.

We smashed an MLS team pre season .... yaaaaaaay

I realise this post makes me seem like Debbie Downer pissing on people's parades but ..... we shouldn't be having parades because we beat an MLS team.

No I definitely think this post is too negative, why shouldn't we celebrate a win !!! I am in turmoil .... nurse .......

I think pre-season is about fitness and about getting the team paying together and bedding in new signings.

Jesus has been pretty sharp which is good but you can’t look too much into these games though, you can easily win all your pre-season games easily and then lose your first game.

Ars vs Orlndo city: Was good to see Nktiah and Nelson get goals. Should boost their confidence, especially Nelson, when the season starts.
Was disappointed by the way our the goal was conceded. A long ball from defense caught our defense napping. A very old ailment, since the Wenger days, keeps haunting us.

Can you imagine if we lost all our preseason games?

'were gonna be sh*t this season'

'its not looking good. we're a mess'

'arteta is useless'

'gabriel jesus cant even score against some MLS pubbers'

Ofc its bad if we lost all our preseason games vs pubbers.. the win is nothing but expected and nothing to be excited about.

Jesus looking good so far but can he do it on a rainy night in stoke :sneaky2:

@DailyAFC: Granit Xhaka on Mikel Arteta: “Tactically he knows everything. How the team prepares before training and before matches is unbelievable. I had a lot of coaches but I have to put Mikel as one of the best coaches in my career.”

Wow. Shows how highly he's thought of.
