Agreed, that's one thing a decent manager does, whatever players you have you can organise them better and improve them tactically as well, not seeing a lot of that at the moment.

Not liking Arteta's subs, he takes wayyyyyyyyyyyyy too long to bring subs on and it seems like he is following what Wenger did to a tee in terms of subs

He a Wenger man. As a player he was little more then useless - very much part of an era where we were declining and as captain he offered nothing on the field. So far he has been a disaster as a manager, moderately less so than Emery.

If you want to understand the type of manager we actually need, given our squad, you only needed to look across to the other bench today.

Not the greatest performance, i have to admit. I'm sure Cripps and Ozim will be celebrating that we didn't win, but it's not all negative. At least we're finally controlling possession. We just need to work on making more out of it. Our offensive output simply isn't good enough.

I tend to agree with you, I think he is out of his depth however, time will tell.

Sideways passes on the half way line is not controlling possession ffs. Other teams will do like they did in the Wenger days and just let us have it knowing we'll do f all with it and at some point they'll get a chance to counter against our shite defence.

Difference is wenger always even when we where total shit had attacking mids who could create chances and goals out of nothing with all the possession we had and sideways pass merchants in Denilson and Arteta towards the end.

This team has no good attacking mids who take risks.

The league is the worst it has ever been this season in quality. There are no good teams, liverpool are the best of a rubbish heap. They are hardworking garbage better than pretentious garbage in city and a different galaxy from our deluded cesspool of elephant manure.

If we make the right signings we could by a miracle still scrape top 4 even with a total rookie manager who took the job out of emotional feelings at half time watching City use us a a glossy training session.

If we don't sign the right players before February 1st then the flirt with relegation will be sexier than Gal Gadot.

It's amazing how many here worshipped Emery for the longest time, but are willing to take their swords out 6 games into Arteta's tenure.

Disgusting set of fans.

We aren't getting results though. In Emery's opening few games we were getting results. His substitutions appeared to be changing games.

Arteta seems clueless in game management. Affraid to make subs or makes the wrong ones, no idea how to hold on to a lead. He just sticks to the same formation and tactics regardless of the score or opponent. It may be early days but so far it feels to me like a step back to the things Wenger got wrong.

Not every manager uses all 3 subs every game and some prefer to go for cohesion rather than erratically making subs as soon as things aren't going your way. For every sub Emery got right, he had another that completely backfired. I don't understand the obsession with team selection most fans have. There's so much more to the tactics than picking the right team/subs (which is all very subjective).

Lets face it, if Fleck doesn't score that insanely unlikely volley, you would have no problem with the subs cause we would have won the game. You also said today that we need a defensive coach, despite us only scoring 30 goals in 23 games. For comparison, City has 64 so far, and this is supposed to be their bad season. Our defense has been shit forever but Emery has done the unthinkable which is making our attack toothless too.

The bigger picture here is that there's no quick fix. This is a team that's in a crisis and needs a serious rebuild come May. Until then we have to settle for positive signs in what will be some embarrassing results.
