Thebigbangtheo - what you have succeded in posting is confirmation that the current squad is considerably better than Wenger's last squad.

So at the same time it is all the more annoying/disappointing/tragic that we have so far been unable to match Wenger's performances let alone surpass them. When you say we have moved forward as a team, I don't see how, isolated good performances are interspersed with abjectly poor performances. For you to claim an improvement it suggests you are looking/focusing your attention on a limited subset of the performances themselves and not all of it. The table tells a story, after 26 games (2 thirds of the season) we are in 10th place, with the 11th best attack and the joint 3rd best defence in the league.

We have averaged 5 shots per game this season, even during the train wreck of a season last season, we averaged 10 shots per game. In Wenger's final season we finished 6th, had the joint 3rd best attack and the 8th best defence. Again, I struggle to see where we have progressed, holistically.

To me, it doesn't make a lot of sense to give Arteta another transfer window. If he is indeed a better manager than his predecessor, how come is he getting less out of the players? Where is the evidence he's going to do better if he's allowed to spend more money?

Almost £50m in losses as of end of 2019/20.

Possibly bigger loss at end of 20/21 considering the £80m transfer window and a full 38 matchdays with no gate receipts. Add to that £200k pw for Partey, £300k pw for PEA and £105k + bonuses for Willian.

Arteta eventually will be forced to do with the players he has. He hasn't proven that he can.

Yeah we’ll be making huge losses in the next set of accounts. Don’t feel too bad about it, maybe it’ll convince Kroenke to sell up, his investment must be haemorrhaging money now with the lack of fans and the fact Arteta has turned us into a midtable team.

I expect Arsenals value has plummeted as they sat there focussed on match day income for so long without exploring the other areas enough, another example of incompetence, we let Gazidis and co sit there earning millions for years without needing to push themselves to improve deals and increase off the field income.

Now we’re doing the same with the manager, letting him cement our place in midtable with no pressure on him to do better.

Terrible way to run a club.

I can already hear the rattling of board meetings being requested by Kroenke lol.

His fault, he thought we were just a piggy bank "Self sustaining model" i.e I can buy it and not do sht and make money.

He knows that without the additional investment we won't get CL football and without that his current investment will likely decrease in value. So his choices are to make the additional investor sell up.

Time to shit or get off the pan.

Just putting it out there " off field income maximization comes from success"

aim for the PL title every year it comes with CL football attached.

Players cost him again.

Should have been 2/3 - 0.

Leno and Xhaka howler.

Pepe open goal.

Can't win.

Ach delighted.

How's your boy Xhaka doing? Must be happy with his performance.

He is not the right man for Arsenal.

Bereft of original ideas, just tries to copy Wenger.

We've never been so bad.

Think of it, we literally scraped that last Benfica game.

To be fair should have been out of sight before the Xhaka incident. Poor finishing today has cost us and of course a var decision which should have been a penalty.

I can't blame Arteta here I just can't. The players have been crap in front of goal all season long and the longer the game goes on without us scoring the other team grow into it.

There is something mentally wrong within this group of players. Xhaka being the most apparent! Sooner he goes the better.

He's trying to do a guardiola and doesn't realise he hasn't got a billion quid worth of talent at disposal.
Pep can get his tactics wrong but the players individual quality will make it look right.
You cant do that here with so much turd in the pitch.
He's extremely lucky there are no fans , would have been sacked long ago.

Yup.

People with the usual excuses about player mistakes/refs etc.

If it’s not down to Arteta what do we need him for, he’s clearly he’s not responsible for anything that happens I then pitch, must be the players managing themselves.

Either it’s his fault so he’s out or it isn’t and he’s not needed so he’s out.

Either way he’s out.
